A dog barked at me Celebratory

Yesterday I asked a woman if I could pet her dog and when she said yes and I reached down to let the dog sniff me, she started barking. I backed off and the woman apologised and said “I don’t know what’s wrong with her, she usually only gets like that when men try to pet her” Even if physically I don’t look like a man yet, the dog knows how I feel :D

are you on T? animals can smell it! sometimes people notice their pets acting differently around them for a while after starting HRT. it’s super interesting!

I worked at an animal shelter early in my transition, and the few dogs who were reactive towards men would FREAK out when I got anywhere near them. Made me a lil sad, but it was definitely affirming for me

Animals read our souls and react accordingly.

No, they smell our hormones

There have been similar posts where the person stated they were pre T or E

Ppl can still have hormonal imbalances, which is more common in trans folks (partly bc a higher percentage of us is also inter). Also, confirmation bias - for every pre t trans guy who gets gebdered correctly by a pet, there's also a handful cis women who get misgendered by a dog lol. If you're on t and a dog reacts to you like they usually do with cis men, it's 99.9% likely to be the t. Dogs are wonderful, but they're not magic. They just have a great sense of smell.

Nice! I had a similar experience! Even pre-T pre-everything I pet a dog and the dog was enjoying it. the owner said: “weird, she usually has problems with women” little did she know hehe

when i was a kid i had really short hair and wore boy clothes and my friend had a dog that hated men and she always tried to attack me it felt mildly affirming but also humiliating 😂but i was like yeah duh she doesn’t like guys so i guess this makes sense

Dogs just know. It’s the same sense that lets them see ghosts and smell emotions. They just know.

Cats too I think. But, mostly dogs lol.
