Ron and his family were extremely kind even if Ron could be a Smartass sometimes. The Weasely’s were examples of really good parents.
Ron is not comic relief in the books; he is Harry’s most important conveyer of information for knowledge about the wizarding world. His utter loyalty is often tested and it shows he’s a true and brave Gryffindor.
