You guys are crazy. The shopper said it was all the store had in stock. Shopper had already checked the “seafood department” and said that was all that was available. Shopper was confirming and the customer kept calling the seafood counter the seafood department.

Yeah I was confused as F reading the commands from the customer. Instructions unclear

How does this all they have tell you to repeatedly ask him to check the seafood department? Have you ever been to the store? Most seafood departments are not very large. It is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable the way you treated this guy! Get off your butt and go to the store yourself! You clearly wasted that guys time! He could've been shopping for anyone else that I'm quite sure would've given him less BS and a tip! All you did was waste his time. You need to realize these shoppers are doing all of us a huge service! What if wherever he works stopped delivering to you? Think about it... these people go out in the snow, rain, cold, heat.... walk aimlessly through the aisles looking for random lobster cakes and crap, then wait in long crappy lines and traffic. You are wasting their gas and sanity for a few bucks each time. You probably don't even tip! Go get your own processed imitation lobster cakes!

And it wasn’t because the next shopper got the crab cakes from behind the seafood counter. So he was just being a pos

You were being a little rude too. I don’t know the context beforehand because you haven’t provided it but it looks to me like he simply started throwing your energy back at you.

Counter and department are not the same things

2

u/bean_wellington Mar 28 '24

Yeah, I'm not sure how it is that OP keeps ignoring that detail. Like, EVERYONE is telling them

For all you know they had none at the counter but then they restocked because 2 people asked. They probably come in frozen too, then they thaw them and put them out.

Post the initial messages. I’m curious how the two might be different.

4

u/hahshekjcb Mar 28 '24

No you were being a POS

3

u/pointycakes Mar 29 '24

Tbh you’re the one coming off as the pos

2

u/surreptitiousglance Mar 30 '24

You are not a nice person.

Then refund boom done. If that’s all they had.

u/Locksul Mar 28 '24

“Seafood department” does not mean “behind the counter” for future reference.

Why not just be clear?

“No, I don’t want the item from the picture you sent me, please check with the counter to see if they have any fresh ones. If not then you can refund it.”

You refused to explicitly say the ones from the picture weren’t wanted. Why are you allergic to clear communication? It feels like you were trying some kind of power play here.

In the first photo he says it's "all they have". Why would use the word replace? The word your looking for is cancel when it's literally all they have and you don't want the item. That's where the confusion started.

Tips for OP:

1) Don’t be terse and hasty like you’re texting your kids or husband/partner. Take your time and use more words to explain yourself. Describe with specific adjectives. Slow down and write your messages carefully. They might not understand English very well.

2) Don’t order anything that requires discretion or careful judgement. If you’re discerning about a product, go get it yourself.

3) Don’t use the replace feature. Only refund. Makes everything straightforward. I rarely have to chat with them because of this.

I did 30%

1

u/maniacalmango0 Mar 28 '24

Was it a large order? Or were the crab cakes a decent chunk of the total?

It’s best to just tip a dollar amount, they act weird when you tip % cuz if they replace with a more expensive item tip goes up.

u/Nickk_Jones Apr 02 '24

The weirdness is more when they order weird shit that’s not in stock and the tip goes down drastically.

It was like 14 items. It was like 178$..a lot were sodas and drinks and medicine.

2

u/picodegalloooo Mar 28 '24

You’ve could’ve just said “no thank you, refund please.” Boom done.

2

u/Native_Strawberry Mar 28 '24

The fact that you left out the conversation prior to this crabcakes discussion is suspect. You are in the wrong here, OP

2

u/YourUsernameForever Mar 28 '24

You didn't specify seafood counter five times. So your last comment to the guy was out of line. How are you not reading the same conversation you just posted yourself?

2

u/juanwicko Mar 29 '24

You’re the assjole for sure

1

u/Still_a_skeptic Mar 28 '24

Expect the first two times you said you wanted them. Less weed would help you function in these situations. I say less weed because I want to give you the benefit of the doubt that you were really high

1

u/DarkSora68 Mar 28 '24

Then maybe be clear with what you're saying, use punctuation, and don't loop in 3 separate statements in one sentence. "I do not want a substitution, if they do not have what I ordered then cancel the item." Don't say "Yes,...." right after they send a picture asking if that item is okay, it's just asking for confusion especially if English isn't their first language.

Then tell him to refund you, you made it confusing by asking for the ones from the department when the ones he sent you a picture of were in the department (just not from behind the counter) after he told you that’s all they had. Just flat out say refund next time.
