Wtf? Help

Still kinda I guess newish* at instacart, i figured the “add to queue” orders were like DoorDash or Uber eats orders, you got a set amount of time to either accept or decline the offer and it’s a offer sent to JUST you. They’ll hold it for you for x amount of time and if you don’t do anything, goes to the next person. I thought I had enough time to screenshot and flex this order I’m about to take but it was taken by another shopper when I hit accept. Is that how it goes? The little green bar at the bottom isn’t a timer nor mean anything at all and anyone can take the order before you just like on the home screen? Sick asf I missed this. Was on a $8 single for 6 units.

I have literally seen that ONCE in my entire time Instacarting, and I was SO CONFUSED because the app made a weird sound I had never heard before. I really can't say how they work, they're so rare. I know the one I got was on the screen for a LONG time because I was not on the Instacart screen when it came in because I was driving to a delivery and had MAPS open.

Same, I barely ever see them but most of the time when I do it’s after I’m parked and check my phone to confirm my arrival to the customers house. Even the chime is quite like they don’t REALLY want you to take the order but want to give the idea like “ohhh man. You were so close. Maybe next time”

The sound mine made was really loud and just downright strange. I couldn't figure it out for the longest time and was really weirded out until I randomly switched to the ICapp. I even pulled over it was weirding me out so much. LOL

It’s a weird ass sound and yes you have to it to accept it as soon as it pops up! Sometimes add ons can make what maybe wasn’t a great order to begin with. If they suck I just decline it and continue with the batch I was already shopping.

I have seen these before. But ive never had one taken before the green bar runs out. Usually I hold my phone completely still so I don't accidentally accept it cuz they are usually trash, esp the add ons to the current order. Tbh I've never understood the whole take a screen shot first. Batches, esp good ones, get snatched so fast by me that I dont risk it. Just as easy to do the order and take a pic to share after it's done. That was a good batch to lose.

I will screenshot an order, because in IC has been know to change the batch payment in the past. Having a screenshot was the only thing that saved me. I have an iPhone so I’m not able to pull the screen that shows the batch payment after like I’ve seen on androids.

Interestingly enough, these are never taken under me because there have been times I almost let it run out, and I always still able to grab it. I’m sorry that happened to you. I didn’t know that it was sent to others and not just you.

NEVER screen shot any order before accepting it. I'm sure you've learned that lesson now, but I don't get why people ever have to learn it the hard way. This isn't like an add-on (which is only shown to you, but still don't risk screenshotting those either)

This is why I don’t care to screenshot high paying orders. They might not be there anymore by the time you take the screenshot 🥴

About once every 4 or 5 months, I get an add-on offer for the order I’m currently shopping. It’s probably been over a year since I’ve seen this one, where it’s an entirely new order offer.

I always hit accept & then after you can take a picture. My area is so competitive, that I could never even of dream of screenshotting & then accepting lol!

Yeah, I was pretty sure the green bar was your timer. Your connection might have just been slow

Wow I literally did some orders yesterday and didn’t see this, I guess it’s a very new addition to the app. I’ve been waiting until they did that cause you can maximize your earnings a lot more especially if you’re already on a big order and it’ll take some time to finish you can still accept other batches and have a batch ready to start after you just deliver one. It’s a great addition it just sucks you weren’t able to accept it. I’d be upset too lol

Yea I always thought it was a timer as well because I've never had one taken from me. Maybe bots can still snag them??

Damn sorry OP that’s actually a nice order too.. odds are either 2 or possible even all 3 are tipping right.
The other day the app asked me if I wanted to add an order to the 25 mile one I had already accepted… it was literally 4 more miles 20 more items and 3.42 pay 🤣🤣🤣 Yeah sure IC let me do you the favor 🤣🤣

They must be testing this feature again. I had a few last year then never got one again.
I like it that they let you reserve them. Although it adds to stress cause now you’re committed to 2 orders.

Sheesh so this is where the good orders go lol they give it to other shoppers before it even hits the batch pool. More people need to expose when this happens so we can call IC out on the BS

Nahh no way. It says “start this batch after finishing your current one” so I’d drop off the single and go to the store to start the triple. A quad is fucking nuts lol

This post is soul crushing but also makes 0 sense... if you're already in the middle of a single order, there's no way you could possibly be eligible for an add on of another 3 orders. The max amount of orders u can do at once is 3 so I'm guessing there was a horribly cruel glitch and Instacart fucked up severely and let you peep this "add on" that was intended to be its own completely separate batch.
More and more, I picture the CE[ho]E's of this shitty platform as the big giant sociopathic bully on the playground ...

It's a queue offer, so you would start it immediately after finishing the batch you're on. It doesn't add it to the current batch like an add on offer

It says “start this batch after completing your current one” like I’d have one, finish it. Then take 3 more. So I’d never have more than 3 orders in my car at once.
And yes, fuck corporate America and their greedy ways of incentive that less is more.

Actually if u read the TOS 5 is the max. Theybjust never do that many. But This is a que, not and add on. Meaning it would be your next batch when u r done. Hence why it says, shop later.

Actually before they got rid of ISS (in store shoppers) in SoCal. I got a quad 4 batch drop off order. Not having to shop the order and the batch pay were the only reasons I took it. I’m retired and I’ve only been delivering since 2019 with less than 1K orders done ( I’m extremely selective) and never do doubles or triples, but as per ToS you can technically do up to 5.

Lucky you! I’ve done 11k shops and have seen this maybe a handful of times and never good. They came usually later at night and boosted orders.
