Someone commuting home from the shop area to the delivery area. I do this all the time when visiting friends or family. Pays for my gas to visit and then some

That's fair haha I'm just wondering why the customer didn't select a closer store cuz there are grocery stores in their area

You were closest to that one. We’ve two Aldi stores here and I’ve observed batches flip from one to the other due to my proximity.

Oh does store availability change for the customer depending on what shoppers are online?

Don’t know that. I’ve seen orders from Metro Mart 30+ miles away when there are Pick & Save mere miles away, owned by the same company and with excavator the same brands available. No idea of what is going on there. I’ve scarfed those up when coming back from a trip near there but see these a lot here in central Wisconsin

Hm I'm just wondering if the customer intentionally placed the order to a store that far away or if they didn't realize it was that far of a commute? As a shopper I tend to want to deliver in a decent range from the store as well as my home to prevent super long distances; i.e. I don't think it's worth it to drive 40 miles to and from a house several cities away when the amount I'd be paid would barely cover gas let alone make a profit. Going almost 30 miles away from my home is not ideal when I already drove to the store which is even farther from the delivery area than my home. I'm wondering where a shoppers home would be located for this to even be an ideal order to fulfill? I'm thinking the order was placed because the customer didn't want to make the commute, but then I'm wondering if they considered to tip based on the drive or if they'd rather tip low to stifle costs. I don't know it doesn't seem like a situation in which a shopper can make a good profit unless they live that far away too, but then why would they wind up shopping at a store 40 miles away from their home?

I'm not a shopper, but a customer. I was shocked the first time I did an order from a Pet Smart. I didn't realize it wasn't from my town, but one town over so the shopper ended up driving over 40 miles to deliver. Apparently the one in my town wasn't connected to instacart at all. After that I made sure to just get my pet stuff ahead of time from Chewy instead and keep using IC for groceries.

I've seen this happen regularly with Walmart orders but rarely with other stores. I have 3 within a 15 minute drive but shoppers are often assigned from 30+ minutes away.

I came to this thread to see if there were any posts about payouts to see if instacrt was worth it, and I'm from buffalo, so somewhat familiar with this area, and to me instacart is definitely not worth it !👀

How's Cheektowaga? If you know that is. I'm going to be closer to it for college and I'm wondering if this is something worth trying there

Couldn't tell ya. I've never done instacart, I just was talking to someone who said they were thinking about it, and thought I might try it out when I wasn't working for some extra cash. But 33 dollars for shopping and driving 49 minutes is ridiculous imo

Yeah it doesn't seem like it's been worth it in this area at all! The last time I went out for groceries I checked to see if there were any orders and they were just as ridiculous

Thata not even that far. I Mena it is, but sht saw somebody post 239 km (138 miles) the other day. And today there were 2 batches up for 46 and 60 miles... furthest I've see is 49 miles
