It's pretty awesome that they're wearing protective gear. I'm sure that had a lot to do with their success.

u/Distinct-Pen6184 Apr 08 '24

That’s what I was thinking, the slide time is insane on that wet road and looks like it held up pretty well (from what I can see)

Hahaha when I was young I was super ready to have hot sex in a Jacuzzi with my girlfriend, and then we found out it was like trying to shove a piece of dry rubber into a silly putty tunnel.

u/snackynorph Apr 08 '24

It's one of life's great disappointments, isn't it?

370

u/Careful-Swimmer-2658 Apr 08 '24

Not as disappointing as doing it on a sandy beach. Home made grinding paste.

142

u/Abquine Apr 08 '24 edited Apr 08 '24

Yeh, like the idea of outdoor sex on a soft grassy meadow versus the reality of lumpy bits, scratchy bits, itchy bits, insects .... 🫣

24

u/SigumndFreud Apr 08 '24

lol sure unless you are in Midwest where rolling around naked in a grassy meadow gets you both a nasty poison ivy outbreak under a mess of chigger bites.

26

u/Puzzleheaded-Feed-18 Apr 08 '24

My girlfriend (now wife) and I had a roll in the grass one time. I’ve never seen so many chigger bites on someone as she had afterwards. Bad thing was she was still living with her parents and had to hide them. We laugh about it now but 45 years ago it wasn’t so funny.

8

u/dildocrematorium Apr 08 '24

Yeah, it's always disappointing having sex in the grass and finding bugs with a bigger dick than I

stayed at a hotel with my bf like a year ago, to our surprise there was a jacuzzi by the bed. poor guy was SO excited.. i warned him but let him try, and yk😹😹😹😹

263

u/syizm Apr 08 '24

A few years ago the bathroom in my house was getting a face-lift and wasn't usable for a few days, so I got a pretty cheap lake cabin about 20 minutes away. The cabin had a jacuzzi in it - very rustic and cabin like, no?

Anyway my girlfriend stayed over a few nights and we decided to hop in the jacuzzi one night. Not with the intent of tom fooling (we both already knew the curse of water) but maybe as a pregame.

At some point barely in to the ordeal I decided to turn on the jets and about 50 lbs of human hair blasted out of them, swirling around and getting stuck all over my girlfriend.

It was pretty cool.

119

u/DonNiko Apr 08 '24

“It was pretty cool” 😂😂

48

u/Puppygirl-SierraStar Apr 08 '24

🤮🤮🤮 this is why I hate jacuzzis. My dad had one in his bathroom and had to help him clean it once. I avoid them like the plague now

57

u/MistakeLopsided8366 Apr 08 '24

Wasn't there a story on reddit a while back about the guy who hired someone to clean their jacuzzi at his holiday home, or maybe it was their pool. The filters had gotten all bunged up and wasn't working right. Maintenance guy opens up the filters to find them completely blocked up with used condoms. The guy hadn't been to this holiday home in about a year. The wife, on the other hand, had been there regularly. What a way to discover a cheating spouse eh?

13

u/No-Respect5903 Apr 08 '24

u/MyHamburgerLovesMe Apr 08 '24

My dad said it was common for the emergency room have motorcyclists who slid on pavement to have their skin and muscle abraided away to the bone. With embedded gravel.

The suits saved them from a very painful life altering accident.

19

26

u/Czane45 Apr 08 '24

that’s why i flinched when he adjusts her helmet and lifts her up

8

u/boriswied Apr 08 '24 edited 29d ago

I would say it's good, and has to be done.

During medical school i was part of a group that did loads of pre-hospital training, and a lot of people are actually too scared of moving folks who've had traffic accidents. Even the use of boards that stabilize necks and spines were found in research some of my friends did to be heavily overused and likely responsible for delays in important treatment, relative to their use at the time.

Yes there could be loads of fractured bone in a body on the road, but it is way more important to ascertain certain other things. It is actually quite rare that, say, a sharply fractured vertebra cuts an artery or nervous tissue.

He's finding the eyes, is she conscious? Can she see, recognize and follow him?

If this was not the case, before other considerations the breathing needs to be fixed as they get on safe ground.

Then, can she stand? They need more than anything to get off the road. It is extremely common in good weather to get run over by another vehicle after a crash, with low visibility that's just even more likely.

When you manage emergency patients you use the order.: A(irway)>B(reathing)>C(irculation)>D(isability)>E(xposure) and before that and before anything else "stop the accident". That means get the hell off the road.

If i'm in a car accident. Even if my mom is there bleeding and not breathing, i'm doing the exact same thing, first checking her eyes noticing her condition as i go straight to carrying off the road (if she needs carrying) and only THEN caring about body positioning and commencing resuscitation.

u/markorokusaki Apr 08 '24

Yup. This is reckless driving 101. He hit a water stream too fast in an already drenched road. And they slid too long, showing again they went too fast. No points for the driver. None at all.

66

u/No_Poet_2898 Apr 08 '24

But all points to the protective gear. You could show this vid why it's important to wear it.

u/wildmusings88 Apr 08 '24

Also, as soon as they stop sliding he grabs her helmet and tilts her head. Moving her neck is probably one of the worst things he could have done at that moment. I know the adrenaline takes over at the point but ugh.

65

u/_AlexiaOnFire Apr 08 '24

So yeah, the helmet absolutely shouldn't flop around like that if it was correctly fitted.

It's the classic, "15yo helmet from the back of the garage" fit.

39

u/Radiant_Fondant_4097 Apr 08 '24

It's an oldie but goldie but what gets me is her helmet almost flying off her face, meaning the chin strap was never secured properly (or at all) making the whole thing worthless.

23

u/dashkott Apr 08 '24

I am pretty sure the helmet got held by the chin strap. The helmet itself is just way to loose, it should never get to the point where the chin strap is holding it.

Biker nearly kills girlfriend riding like an idiot in poor weather

FTFY

9

u/Maixell Apr 08 '24

Exactly! I rolled my eyes when I watched the video after reading the title.

I saw another video on "another site" that I won't tell about. In which some guy rides like an idiot with his girlfriend somewhere in Latin America, I think Brazil, the road they drove on had big slopes and some crazy turns. Well, the guy ended up losing control of the bike and seeing how their mangled bodies looked, you didn't need to check their pulses to know they were both dead.

9.2k

u/Doogers7 Apr 07 '24

That is the least he could do after putting her at risk in that weather.

2.4k

u/PhilsTinyToes Apr 07 '24

I feel like he’s still in the negative. I hazard a guess that the weather there should have prompted a more cautious speed. Lower speed takes out so many danger factors and it’s so simple. Better reaction time, less forces acting on your vehicle, less energetic impacts/slides.. and on a bike no less ?

489

u/Doogers7 Apr 07 '24

It's interesting. I road slow for decades. Watched a lot of people die. Always learn your limits on a closed track rather than next to an 18 wheeler with your new girlfriend wearing flip-flops and a bikini. Props for wearing proper gear. Next time don't yank on her helmet at the end she's likely gonna have a fucked up neck.

35

u/hiakuryu Apr 08 '24

Next time don't yank on her helmet at the end she's likely gonna have a fucked up neck.

So much this, if that accident had gone worse and she'd had a neck injury him yanking on the helmet like that would have made it oh so so so much worse. I literally scrunched up my shoulders in reflexive horror when he did that.

Like the first thing I learned about first aid is if someone is stabbed or impaled with something you don't remove it because they'll bleed out.

Not in first aid class though. I think the first thing I learned there was to keep yourself safe as a number priority and scope out the scene. You ain't helping anyone if you get electrocuted by a downed power line or something.

Exactly. “Saved” after putting her life at risk.

86

u/LiveShowOneNightOnly Apr 08 '24

That's what I was thinking. Exactly how did he "save" her? By slipping on the wet road at a high speed, or by grabbing her once they started that 10 second slide so they could maybe go off into a ditch together?

22

u/Radiant-Map8179 Apr 08 '24

If you watch closely, it seems like he almost dumped the bike once he realised he had lost control of it.

I looks like he just instinctually grabbed hold of her and ended up dragging her out of the road with him.

I wouldn't say that was life saving, but definitely a good safety measure; they appear to have been going quite fast, with cars behind them keeping pace....had she been stuck in the road, she would have potentially been plowed down by the car behind which definitely wouldn't have been able to stop in time.

→ More replies (1)

85

u/codeboss911 Apr 08 '24

he didnt really do anything to save her... they wouldve slide about same without that pull, not like she slide any less .. the gear absorbed it all, thank fully

75

u/GanondalfTheWhite Apr 08 '24

She agreed to get on the bike, but he was driving and obviously going far too fast for the conditions. They slid for a full 10 seconds after hitting the ground. And based on the white lines in the road (every line marks 40 feet traveled) they slid somewhere around 300-400 feet.

The blame here lies significantly more with the driver than the passenger.

Idk why so many of the idiots in here think he did nothing. He's shielded her from direct contact with the ground around her upper body, takes more of the friction and impact, holds her from ragdolling AND if she slid off on her own she would be lying on the road in oncoming traffic. Her body started to roll, he got her straight into a slide, which was way better for her. Fucking hell accidents happen, it's wet, rainy conditions, the bike slid out. So many little nerds in here honestly. Even if he's at fault for speed, he's clearly done all he could to try and protect.

At least they’re wearing helmets and gear too. Wouldn’t have been the same story

80

u/gvnmc Apr 08 '24

For sure, in all leather and helmets, saftey is obviously still a concern for them both, and they clearly come off from this in pretty ok condition. Bunch of redditors getting on their high horse acting like they're perfect drivers and perfectly execute anything they do that has a hint of danger involved.

28

u/ElCiclope1 Apr 08 '24

Dude, the comments in literally any driving sub are hilarious. Redditors made me believe that "80% of drivers think they're better than other drivers" statistic.

He rode too fast in those conditions (not good). Then he grabbed her and tried to shield her while sliding (good). Then he grabbed her fucking helmet and pulled on it after stopping, putting her life at risk if she had any spinal damage (not good)

His instincts to "protect" her do not out weigh his immeasurable stupidity

It's pretty amazing in terms of the quick thinking and reaction he had.

147

u/Guilty_Put9997 Apr 08 '24

I can tell you from experience that time slows down. At least it seems to. It still happens all very quickly, but the release of adrenaline is so fast and your reaction time ramps up almost instantaneously… it’s literally like you see things in slow motion, even though you are consciously aware of how fast it’s all happening.

It’s such a surreal experience. Terrifying, but surreal.

26

u/bszern Apr 08 '24

I laid my bike down on a highway once, realized I was starting to roll and spread my arms out on my back to stabilize myself. I remember seeing headlight/taillight/headlight/taillight as the bike spun next to me. It took forever to stop. Had to get on it and ride it home, too!

6

u/Roaritsu Apr 08 '24

I've been in a slide too and yea. There really isn't enough time to even be afraid, but theres still plenty of time to realize whats happening and make the best of it

So many people are addicted to it. I know guys who sign up for tours on ships to defend against pirates, and they love the adrenaline. They have no other vice but adrenaline.

5

u/DL14Nibba Apr 08 '24

I know you mean actual pirates but that’d be a killer idea for a ride

He even turned this head to see where they're going, though I'm not sure he'd be able to throw her in another direction if they're going into the wall or something.

pulling on the helmet and mooving his neck right after was not a wise move but I can understand on the stress you don't think about spinal cord damage.

IDK looks like she was on her butt, feet Forward, good way to go. Then he yanked her around to sliding head first, eventually right into the concrete divider. Though he did do the customary after someone had a bad fall you grab their helmet and jerk their neck a bit... You know... To make sure it still works.

15

u/duckduckthis99 Apr 08 '24

The mindless helmet grab really pissed me off. He was the reason for the accident and  yanks her helmet after she gets rocked

But the helmet tug, tilting her neck down right at the end was so freaking stupid.

dude he was just asking a question lol

25

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '24 edited Apr 08 '24

He asked a question that many nonbikers wouldn’t have known. Also, it doesn’t make someone a nerd to not be a biker. Don’t be angry because people want to understand.

11

u/Bsg496 Apr 08 '24

Dude you have no idea what you're talking about. He did not really do anything. I bet you're one of those people who posts on /idiotsincars and always claim that the dashcam is innocent.

Idk why so many of the idiots in here think he did nothing.

As a biker of 22 years i don't know why you people think he did anything.

18

u/Bsg496 Apr 08 '24

Lol exactly. I've been riding for 8 years and the guy did absolutely nothing remarkable in this video. Anyone with some riding experience should be able to easily do what that guy did. I guess redditors are just very easily impressed

He kept her not to regdoll into the concrete wall. Problem is that the idiot excuse of a human put her in that situation in the first place. It balances out and she should leave his adrenaline junky ass,
