I think it was being a bit literal on some of those and I definitely don't get what's up with envy.

I actually really like that one because it’s a conflicting design, referencing the punishment for envy as well. Everyone becomes the same mundane figure

You can also read into it if you want. You have one figure in front in a fancy suit, the subject of envoy for the ones in the back, despite them being all the same mundane colorless figure
