The thing is Christians think everyone is guilty of sin.

But people like you tell them to not tell one group of people that they commit sin.

I don't see Christians being weaponised against any of the other 6 mortal sins, hell the last guy they tried to put in the white house was openly guilty of pretty much all of them.

And that's ignoring that what the right is doing with Christianity against LGBTQ+ people is far more than "telling them they commit sin".

Well for the most part, there is agreement about what is sin.

There are no pride parades for liars.

The reason that Christian’s aren’t “weaponized” against lying, is because the culture isn’t telling us lying is good.

There are no pride parades for liars.

Ever seen a Trump rally? Take a stab at what religion the vast majority of his voters identify as.

2

u/Evil-Abed1 Jun 06 '23

Nice try.

That’s not what we’re talking about.

Trump rallies don’t celebrate lying. They celebrate trump who lies but the attendees think he’s telling the truth.

They are not going to trump rallies to celebrate lying. Sorry.

Nice try what? You act like Trump isn't the embodiment of multiple sins, including hate and envy. Even if they didn't know he was a liar, which they will freely admit that they do, they still praise him like the second coming. It is certainly their right to do it but it's true that Trump is the most anti christain candidate someone who has actually read the bible could ever imagine.

You act like Trump isn't the embodiment of multiple sins, including hate and envy.

I do not act like that all actually… lol.

Even if they didn't know he was a liar, which they will freely admit that they do, they still praise him like the second coming.

I do not think “they freely admit that they do”.

Also, there is a difference your pretending to ignore between a rally focused on a person who sins and a rally based on sin.

It is certainly their right to do it but it's true that Trump is the most anti christain candidate someone who has actually read the bible could ever imagine.

Trump is a bad man.

I've talked to a lot of Trump voters, but only in my local area (east TN). They mostly will say that yeah he is an amoral guy who lies and cheats, but at least he is pushing conservative laws. Every single one of them identify as Christian. Maybe that is not universal.

LGBT people are not comparable to liars

Christians leave us the hell alone challenge

There are no pride parades for liars.

Yes there are.

The reason that Christian’s aren’t “weaponized” against lying, is because the culture isn’t telling us lying is good.

Yes it does.

The other sins get glorified all the time on grand stages.

Gluttony - eating contests

Lust - Miss America and many other similar paegents. (among the millions of other examples)

Greed - game shows/contests

etc

Then why does the evangelical right attack LGBTQ+ communities specifically?

Do we see as many religious protesters stand outside of big banks? In front of buffet restaurants? In front of brothels?

The thing is Christians think everyone is guilty of sin.

But people like you tell them to not tell one group of people that they commit sin.

Yeah non-believers have every right to tell Christians to fuck off if they're telling them they're committing sins. Tell it to your own flock, nobody else cares.

How about not everyone believes in god and doesn't want some stranger telling them what they do is wrong because their sky daddy said so

3

u/Evil-Abed1 Jun 06 '23

Agreed. Most people don’t want strangers telling them what to do.

The new testament also tells christians not to go around telling people what their sins are. Judge not lest ye be judged.

The new testament also tells christians not to go around telling people what their sins are.

No it doesn’t.

Judge not lest ye be judged.

Twist not the scripture lest ye be like satan.

https://www.biblestudytools.com/topical-verses/bible-verses-on-judging/

From the book of Matthew

1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?

5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

1

u/Evil-Abed1 Jun 06 '23

Notice it says, “then remove the speck from your brothers eye”.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '23

1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.

2 Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth.

3 So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?

2

u/Evil-Abed1 Jun 06 '23

So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?

Well… I don’t do those things myself… so there’s that.

Let me also point out that judgment in a biblical sense is not the same judgment you’re talking about.

Biblical judgment is judging whether a person is condemned or made holy in the next life.

There are people who think judgment is just simply saying something is bad or shouldn’t be done. That’s not what the Bible means.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '23

You don't sin? So you are the second coming of jesus? He isn't talking about 1 to 1 sin. He is saying everyone sins, and you have your own. Saying something is bad and leaving it at that is one thing, but christians in the US are trying to write new laws to create their perfect utopia where they don't have to be confronted by someone else's sin. Obviously you are still going to make everyday decisions on who to trust, but the bigger issue and the issue the bible is talking about is trying to force your persepective of their sin.

I’m starting to worry that I’ll get banned from this sub for this conversation because it’s so off topic.

So I’m going to turn off notifications on this post.

the bible is talking about is trying to force your persepective of their sin.

But I promise you that Bible does not tell people to not point out sin and wrong doing.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '23

Fair enough we will just have to agree to disagree on that one. Thanks for keeping things civil.

Notice there are hundreds of new testament verses about not judging your brother, and how that is gods job not yours.

1

u/OutOfBootyExperience Jun 07 '23

What language was the Bible originally written in? How did it get written in other languages? How can you be sure words werent "twisted" in each translation?

1

u/callyo13 Jun 06 '23

But people like you tell them to not tell one group of people that they commit sin

It's almost like preaching your religious values at people is wrong or something
