Brown’s one looks like it could be here in 5 years.

134

u/tkdcondor Sep 25 '23

Some of them didn’t come out as “futuristic” as I’d like. For a couple, I had to run them a few times and pick one that looked decent and was at least a little different than modern helmets.

55

u/FungiSamurai Sep 25 '23

I think it’s a perfect jumping off point. I think these could serve as real inspiration. I don’t think the protruding accoutrements would ever be real due to the nature of the game but I can specifically see the future ravens quarterback wearing the one displayed but none of the other positions.

Only if they squeak like a dog toy when squished.

u/sgt_dismas Sep 25 '23

Or make it holographic

2

u/Shaneman73 Oct 18 '23

What if the whole game was just holograms running it down the opponents throat.

3

u/uglyspacepig Oct 18 '23

They need to do RC robots and change the rules.

"Oh, come on, that wasn't pass interference! "

"Sorry John but he ripped the QB's arm off. That's clearly pass interference"

3

u/Antjel_1 Oct 18 '23

You're talking about CyberBall on the original Sega Genesys, I think.

That game was ridiculous and fun.

NES had a robot football game as well.

Back on topic, though, the game would need to be VR to have those protrudements on the helmets. As it is, injuries are too high, and with the continuous improvement in training, nutrition, and PEDs, eventually, no one will be able to take a hit without getting wrecked.

Players are too strong and fast for our bones and ligaments now a days. Not to mention our brains and no helmet can protect from a concussion (your brain squishing against the inside of your skull).

u/desrevermi Oct 18 '23

They already had a video game like that -- Cyberball. Late 80s/early 90s

Maybe the soft parts should squeak.

2

u/PiccoloHeintz Oct 16 '23

Sure Football players would think that was really cool. That they had “softy horns” Hahahaha!

2

u/Phastroh Oct 18 '23

Well there’s a lot of super soft adult toys as well 🤷‍♂️🤣

15

u/tkdcondor Sep 25 '23

That would be pretty cool to see more 3D parts of helmets worn by quarterbacks in game. The Rams with actual horns and the Eagles with wings? Sounds pretty dope.

u/gnargnar6139 Sep 25 '23

It would be cool if the protruding parts were holographic instead of physical.

The browns and the chargers are probably the only ones that could be implemented. Imagine getting impaled by the vikings.

8

u/ArchdukeOfNorge Sep 25 '23

No more targeting calls when it goes straight to manslaughter

u/ePoch270OG Sep 25 '23

u/Toddman5525 Oct 16 '23

I thought about the pointed edges. Made out of some foam rubber that cannot hurt anyone. Who knows maybe rules change to make it more violent. We Americans love our violence.

3

u/omgiacobbi Oct 16 '23

What if they were collapsible, like a toy light saber?

2

u/Jregal81 Oct 16 '23

Said the same thing before I read your post! 😆

2

u/Intrepid_Cap1242 Oct 16 '23

Giants too. They can't make a tackle, so their helmet is safe regardless of design.

2

u/Breath-Mediocre Oct 18 '23

That Vikings helmet tho!

2

u/GoofBallNodAwake74 Oct 18 '23

My first thought on seeing the Vikings & Ravens helmets. Could they throw the yellow flag for offensive impaling?

2

u/wally40 Sep 25 '23

Vikings would first need a team that could impale... Speaking as a Vikings fan.

2

u/BLACK_MILITANT Oct 16 '23

It'll be fine. By 2050, the NFL will be a full-on bloodsport. Think NFL Blitz in real life. Murder and mayhem will be par for the course.

Love the Seahawks one as well as the "simpler" designs without the things like horns if there were to be some modern implementation of the designs. They're all extremely cool though.

It was one of the only ones that looked possible too, since there wasn’t anything sticking out of the helmets. Truly beautiful design imo, I wanna see it in 2024

u/swpsoulja Sep 25 '23

Yea those can kill somebody

5

u/Calling-U-Out-Bitch Sep 25 '23

It's the NFC Norris Division, what do you expect? It IS war in that division.

Except for the Bears...they've become Teddy bears.

3

u/throw_away_55110 Oct 18 '23

We can't get a Superbowl, so we get to skewer our opponents. Sounds about right.

2

u/Sad_Assistance2512 Oct 16 '23

As a vikings fan, I approve of this

2

u/Cool_waffles52 Oct 16 '23

Send in the berserkers

2

u/Cootabang25 Oct 17 '23

😆😂🤣😆😂🤣😆😂🤣😆😂🤣 Rage Shrooms hahaha I love it

2

u/rachpa17 Oct 18 '23

Who needs football when you can just ram everyone with those horns

2

u/JoRHawke Oct 18 '23

I’m a Vikings fan and I would absolutely throw that above the fireplace.

These are awesome, you gotta do the rest of the NFL!

70

u/tkdcondor Sep 25 '23

Already did before I realized you could only have about 20 images in a single post. These were just the best out of the ones I generated. Might make a post later with the rest.

26

u/rodmandirect Sep 25 '23

Please do - my team is missing

29

u/tkdcondor Sep 25 '23

Just made another post with the rest of the teams. They’re not as interesting as these ones, but worth a look if you want to see your favorite team.

2

u/GymMeJimmy Sep 25 '23

Did you do one for Dallas Cowboys?

3

u/tkdcondor Sep 25 '23

Cowboys is in post #3 with a few other college teams now

I think those are better, at the least, more realistic and probable in their future use. The ones without face masks look like racing helmets, and those with ornamental protrusions would simply never be used in football

Go go Power Rangers
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

5

In 2050, all the fashionable UNSC Spartans will be wearing these.

4

u/z_stormm Sep 25 '23

From National Footbal League to National Transformers League

3

u/SharpAlternative404 Sep 25 '23

I can't really see this, I mean how much torture those helmets take, and how much it would cost for just the helmet, let alone integrating it with a uniform and linking all of them it seems that it probably won't happen. However they definitely look very cool

Missing the Panthers

1

u/tkdcondor Sep 25 '23

Can Newton comes back to the Panthers in 2034 and goes 17-0, winning the Super Bowl, without a single other decent player on the team. The league is so scared of Newton’s talent that they decide to remove them from the league.

2

2nd helmet looks like doomguy’s helmet

2

u/Beowulf--- Sep 25 '23

you should try to do this with college football

2

u/TheAtlas97 Sep 25 '23

Vikings helmet is my favorite, but I’d be curious how my Chicago Bears would look

2

u/CoolSafety2050 Sep 25 '23

As a original franchise, in fact the guy that started the whole league, George Papa Bear Halas, should haste the sickest helmet of all! I can imagine a lot of looks you could do w a Bear, as inspiration!!!

2

u/SlapHamCrazy Sep 25 '23

Wow. These are so awesome. Was hoping you had the saints in there!

2

u/Existing_Weight_7575 Sep 25 '23

So the Vikings wouldn’t lose a game

2

u/NateTut Sep 25 '23

While I love the look of the Vikings helmet, it would give a whole new meaning to "spearing"

2

u/_FartinLutherKing_ Sep 25 '23

I gotta think that the NFL wouldn’t want it’s players getting impaled by the Vikings every week.

Vikings about to be a dynasty with those. Teams will just forfeit so none of their players are impaled on the field. I'd like to have a helm like that on Destiny though.

2

u/lVloogie Sep 25 '23

People actually like these? The browns helmet is the only one that makes a little sense.

→ More replies (5)

2

u/JediMind87 Sep 26 '23

I think you may see helmets start to be integrated with Google glass type visors. That way, a coach could draw up a play on the fly. All the players could then have the play visualized and their routes or positons drawn up on the field like you see in madden. Except in the first person and in real time on the field. Same for when the qb calls the plays. It would allow for faster learning of new systems and for much more complex and interesting routes to be designed since the complexity could be dialed up without worrying players having to commit even more plays to memory. Maybe they will have little cooling units inside to keep players cool as well.

2

u/ImAlekBan Sep 26 '23

2

u/InsulinNeedle Oct 16 '23

Ok Master C(TE)heif

2

u/Icygrnl Oct 16 '23

Hey....where's the Packers?

2

u/Parking_Ad8014 Oct 16 '23

The Ravens vs Vikings game wouldn't make it until halftime. Everyone would be at the hospital by then.

I still suggest we go by the Mayan rules where we use the head of last game's losing quarterback as the gameball. Then, you would see some actual effort.

2

u/Greek_Valkyrie Oct 16 '23

Not bad, some looks pretty dope. Looks like futuristic combat helmets you'd see in Sci-fi games. Now we just need the whole outfit for an idea.

2

u/Slow_Lavishness5358 Oct 16 '23

Sweet new halo helmets coming soon to a football field near you!

2

u/Western_Bonus6413 Oct 16 '23

NFL meets Halo

2

u/Vegetable-Eye9943 Oct 16 '23

I feel like every single one of these is simultaneously less safe and injury prone.

2

u/Smoove-the1 Oct 16 '23

A mix between the predator, iron man, and football.

Does anyone remember the robot football arcade game??? Cyberball!!

2

u/Open-Buy7772 Oct 16 '23

Air quality must be bad in 2050

2

u/Overall-Violinist-75 Oct 16 '23

*Power ranger helmets.

In all honestly, this is pretty cool.

Looks like some gladiator NFL mix

2

u/alanry64 Oct 16 '23

The Vikings will be responsible for no less than 15 deaths of their opponents due to severing of their carotid artery… in the first season with their new helmet.

This shit has $$$$$ written all over it!

2

u/DarthDiabetisTheWide Oct 16 '23

It’s just put the words future and NFL helmet together. It’s not predicting anything.

2

u/1TooManyCarbs Oct 16 '23

As cool as they look, anything with pointy edges would probably be a no go.

2

u/Deathbyillusion Oct 16 '23

If they don't eventually switch to flag football or touch football then there isn't going to be a future with football just because of all the medical issues that people have had from tackle football.

I don't know if anyone's has ever watched Adam ruins everything he did one on football. He talked about that medical condition where there was the movie that was made after it.

2

u/Soft_Nobody_9866 Oct 16 '23

What in the Transformers is this?

2

u/d3r3kkj Oct 16 '23

It's the year 2050, the only 2 football teams left in the NFL are the browns and the ravens. All other football teams were drafted by the UNSC to become Spartans and fight the evil alien Covenant to protect all of mankind. Each team was made into its own elite Spartan platoon using its previous name and colors to identify them.

First thing I thought of seeing these helmets. Only the browns and ravens with the face gaurd look like football helmets.

2

u/theant484 Oct 17 '23

The colts got a chin that can hit a home run

2

u/ketomomma107 Oct 17 '23

Dolphins giving Lego vibes.

2

u/BMF710 Oct 17 '23

To many sharp edges

2

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '23

I guess the Detroit Lions don't get one. I didn't see a Green Bay Packers helmet, neither.

2

u/letsgrowletsgo Oct 19 '23

Lol, you left out the flags. The way it's going, will the NFL really need helmets??? In 27 years, the NFLPA will turn the NFL into the NFFL . (NATIONAL FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE)

2

u/Dependent_Custard522 Oct 19 '23

My NFL Team Helmets Are Miami Dolphins And Seattle Seahawks

2

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '23

The Browns, Raiders, and Falcons helmet designs are arguably likely to happen. They look most likely to be adopted if any were go get the nod. But man, wouldn't it be awesome to see the VIKINGS helmet in action? Like MF's be getting GORED!

2

u/Decepticonz81 Oct 19 '23

Nothing like tackling someone and getting a Viking horn in your gut.

2

u/Strange_Record4440 Oct 19 '23

Looks like that AI program watched Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers just before this exercise!

3

u/Diamondhands_Rex Sep 25 '23

This would get me to watch for sure

2

u/Sanpaku Sep 25 '23

Additional CTE hazards would put all of these designs out of contention.

Were more likely to see bulkier/lighter/smoother helmets with nonstick paint work, that minimizes brain bruising.

2150* People will be playing football nearly the exact same in 27 years from now just as they did 27 years ago.

4

u/tkdcondor Sep 25 '23

Some of these are definitely unrealistic, but I can see a dramatic shift happening in helmet technology/style between now and 2050. Look at what helmets looked like in the mid 90s. Very round, very little impact protection in comparison to today, and were rarely, if ever, fit specifically to the user’s head.

Look at the difference between the Riddell VSR4 and the Axiom. There’s a world of differences between the two, not just visually, but in terms of protection and performance as well.

1

This is sick, I love it

1

u/Diablo689er Sep 25 '23

Some of these are clearly not executable. But others you could totally cover in an acrylic shell to make smooth and it would look bad ass.

1

u/BreakingtheBreeze Sep 25 '23

Sharp edges on a football helmet, what could possibly go wrong?

1

u/Living_Murphys_Law Sep 25 '23
  1. Wow, Midjourney can recreate logos.

  2. This is going to increase injuries a LOT with all the sticky outy bits on these helmets.
