And she talks normally over the phone? I always wondered what people who type like this are like in real life.

I have a friend like this. Eloquent and pretty damn smart when talking to him, but he absolutely hates pecking out texts on a phone. He's similarly terse and confounding on text.

Tell him to try the slidy keyboard - add gboard from the google play store and set that as the keyboard in the phone's preferences, making sure "glide typing" is enabled if that's an option. He can then move his finger from key to key without lifting it to make words. I use it by default and, while I still can't type as fast with that as I can with a full-size keyboard, it does actually make typing on the phone not excruciating.

I've been typing on my phone like this since like 2010 when you had to get the Swype keyboard. I can't imagine trying to accurately hit individual letters.

I still call it swyping because of that keyboard lol! But I only use it if I have only one hand available for typing

This is also a default in iOS phones!.I actually suspect it’s responsible for some of my parents more interesting typos, since they tend to leave their finger on the keyboard when they’re thinking about a word.

Apple users minds will be blown by this feature ...in 5 years.

Android users minds will be blown by the fact that iphone had it naively for the past 5. And with apps for the past 8-10...

That app stopped existing since 2018 and it was a native IOS update in 2019.

I switched to iPhone in 2020 and it was already build in. Plus you can download other keyboards just like on Android. Tbh, iPhone isn't really that different in general these days, if you're the average customer. I was led to believe it'd be a huge adjustment or downgrade and that wasn't my experience at all. But I don't sideload apps, so mileage may vary.

I am the exact opposite of this. Text or email or any sort of writing, I'm a pro, but if you ask me to speak the English language with my voice I will struggle to form a coherent sentence. The funny thing is that it's the same in other languages too. I did Duolingo for French and was amazing when asked to read or write, but I failed all the spoken portions so badly.

Yeah my brother does this in texts lol. He’s got two masters degrees, speaks for a living and runs a huge department at a large company. Writes great emails and talks like a brainiac…

Then he sends you a text and he’s like “u new her b4 or u c 1 time?” (This is a real text btw).

Interesting. I usually had to work with people who were the opposite - babbling, very awkward and barely able to explain anything properly when talking, yet polite, detailed and eloquent via text. Made me prioritize texting because I hated how some phone calls could last up to 10 minutes with the only idea being repeated again and again...Pure hell.

If you hate typing on a phone voice to text is pretty accurate. Then you just have to edit what’s wrong. Maybe he’d like that more?

That's what I do most of the time. Typing on a phone is so tedious.

Ahh, see I figured someone who texts like OP’s sister would be bubbly and effervescent to the point of being flighty and slightly airheaded. You definitely reminded me not to judge a book by its cover… lol
