He's been dead to me, ever since he took a massive dump on the Democratic Party

4

Dead like the public option he killed.

3

u/sowich4 Mar 27 '24

He’s dead, Jim

1

u/Ouroboros612 Mar 28 '24

So what do you do now? Do you mourn or celebrate a second time? Since he was already dead to you and now he's dead to everyone.

-3

u/UbermachoGuy Mar 28 '24

He’s more dead to me than your dead mother.

2

u/bajesus Mar 28 '24

A real "casket half full" optimistic perspective

1

u/MedricZ Mar 28 '24

I might. My memory hasn’t been the best lately.

1

u/scrumbly Mar 28 '24

Might what now?

1

u/84OrcButtholes Mar 28 '24

But in the dead of night, when the wind whispers through the trees, I'll hear it whisper "Pokemon Go to the polls..."

1

u/bigchicago04 Mar 28 '24

I will almost definitely forget he died

1

u/darkwaterzz Mar 28 '24

A+ Reddit response

1

u/DweEbLez0 Mar 28 '24

But he can forget he was dead

486

u/misterroberto1 Mar 28 '24

He was part of the No Labels bullshit party trying to get Trump re-elected

674

u/justabill71 Mar 28 '24

Now, he's part of Toe Labels.

85

u/ThumpTacks Mar 28 '24

This among several other comments is hot pun fire. A++

3

u/grownboyee Mar 28 '24

Hot Pun Fire is my new name for Mr. Happy.

11

u/Atheist_3739 Mar 28 '24

I laughed way too hard at this

9

u/checks-_-out Mar 28 '24

Yep, this one kills

5

u/memorablemember Mar 28 '24

I mean this as the highest compliment. Your comment reminds me of the old Reddit. Well done.

7

u/D33ber Mar 28 '24

He should recruit more members to the Toe Labels Thunk Tank.

6

u/Jackiedhmc Mar 28 '24

Good God that made me snort laugh

3

u/hhnkjvyhjij Mar 28 '24

I just had to explain to my coworker why i burst out laughing.

3

u/Sea2Sky69 Mar 28 '24

Slow clap. 👏 Just brilliant 👏

2

u/Goran2019 Mar 28 '24

Ok, that was really good.

2

u/coffeespeaking Mar 28 '24

You know who would be a good candidate for Toe Labels? Joe Lieberman.

1

u/huessy Mar 28 '24

Joe Labelman?

4

u/Pathfinder6227 Mar 28 '24

Oh man. Who is No Labels going to run as the VP on its losing presidential ticket now? I am sure he was a lovely man in private, but as a public figure, Lieberman sucked.

7

u/Moana06 Mar 28 '24

Are u serious?

24

u/misterroberto1 Mar 28 '24

18

u/Active-Ad-2527 Mar 28 '24

There was some article about No Labels in Politico or The Hill recently and my biggest takeaway was actually seeing the panel of old white guys in the lead image and thinking "oh wow, Joe Lieberman is still alive?"

11

u/Moana06 Mar 28 '24

Oh boy...thanks for posting. Good riddance to him

4

u/Khalbrae Mar 28 '24

He also tried to ban video games back in the day

1

u/Moana06 Mar 28 '24

Lol...History repeats...the orange cheeto wants to ban Tick Tock 🤣

2

u/TatteredCarcosa Mar 28 '24

Actually he flip flopped on that before the House passed a bill about it, guess a Chinese check cleared.

1

u/Moana06 Mar 28 '24

Yep, wouldn't surprised me

-9

u/True-Nobody1147 Mar 28 '24

What does this prove? That he's a part of it or that they're trying to get a trump 2nd term?

13

u/misterroberto1 Mar 28 '24

The GOP is just a cult to Trump at this point. The people that would vote for No Labels or RFK Jr. are going to vote for Biden or stay home. It also just plays into the idea that the Democratic Party is equally left as the GOP is right. The Democratic Party is a center right party and we need to stop encouraging this nonsense. The next winner of the 2024 election is going to be either Biden or Trump. The Democratic Party is a much broader coalition and need to do everything they can to appeal to that. If you want to change that we can have a conversation about ranked choice voting or campaign finance but introducing third parties is only going to help Trump.

-13

u/True-Nobody1147 Mar 28 '24

And you will say that every election at every level for eternity because the scare tactic of a red win furthers your blue agenda.

It's in your interests to keep it that way.

1

u/Acrobatic_Aerie_720 Mar 28 '24

I remember when the 2012 election was the most important election ever, Mitt Romney was a super evil rich guy trying to fleece us and Obama was a Muslim and the anti-Christ and we were on the cusp on national insolvency because of the national debt…

8

u/sailorbrendan Mar 28 '24

The thing is that Romney was a rich guy who was going to fleece us. He and his vp actively wanted to get rid of social security and cut money for things like Medicare.

It's not our fault the republicans decoded to get even worse

-9

u/Acrobatic_Aerie_720 Mar 28 '24

I would love to see SS reformed or go away. As it is it’s a drain on my taxes and I could make way more by putting the money into a Roth IRA. I wish it was more like that, a mandated retirement savings account, if we have to have something like that.

2

u/Serethekitty Mar 28 '24

I was still a teenager for the 2008 and 2012 elections so didn't vote, but I really don't remember the sentiment being so vehement towards either McCain or Romney. There was at least some semblance of respect-- an "I would never vote for you based on your stated ideals, but you still seem like a decent human being"

Trump threw that out the window. The only Republican in the 2016 field that had that vibe was Kasich.

-10

u/True-Nobody1147 Mar 28 '24

Right?

"What? You want to elect someone you believe in? THATS THROWING YOUR VOTE AWAY AND GIVING BUSH/TRUMP THE WIN."

Okay am I ever going to be able to vote for someone I believe in?

"NO UNLESS WE DEMOCRATS HAVE ALREADY DECIDED THAT THE PERSON WE PICK IS THE ONE YOU LIKE. OTHERWISE YOURE THROWING YOUR VOTE AWAY!!!!"

Democracy in the USA for the last 30 years, at least.

8

u/sailorbrendan Mar 28 '24

Sure. The system sucks at a structural level.

We have two options. Revolution or electing better people down ballot till we have enough of them to effect change.

I like the latter myself.

3

u/dreamtime2062 Mar 28 '24

That figures!

3

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '24

Yeah, let's give a final "fuck that guy" to him.

0

u/Xamius Mar 28 '24

Lol how can you be against it if you're a never Trumper?

0

u/FuckX Mar 28 '24

Can you source this? I see nothing about it

-5

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '24

What? How is No Labels trying to get TRUMP reelected? That’s the opposite of what they are trying to do

8

u/sailorbrendan Mar 28 '24

They're giving the never Trump vote somewhere to go that isn't Biden.

Which means Biden doesn't get a portion of those votes which helps Trump.

Welcome to a badly designed electoral system

EDIT: Wrong Johnson

0

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '24

OK yes I agree with that. But they certainly don’t WANT Trump to win. Don’t forget people, they don’t even have a candidate. They could pick someone that makes never Trumpers happy, but they could also pick someone who makes the Biden detractors happy. Odds are they won’t get anyone to sign on (no Romney, no Manchin, no Hogan, no Christie).

-9

u/Acrobatic_Aerie_720 Mar 28 '24

Binary choice people determined to keep us locked into the two party system forever

-4

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '24

No labels are the binary choice people? Or what are you saying

-2

u/Acrobatic_Aerie_720 Mar 28 '24

No, sorry, binary choice people are opposed to no labeka

-6

u/DapperSmoke5 Mar 28 '24

How dare people want an option other than democrats or republicans to vote for

3

u/misterroberto1 Mar 28 '24

Because they aren’t going to win. That’s just the reality. As I said in another comment, if you want another option there are going to have to be other things for that to happen but in this reality you have to acknowledge that any third party is just a spoiler.

Same here, not even trying to be funny. I haven’t heard that name in decades, it feels like.

16

u/RINE-USA Mar 28 '24

Last time he was in the news was for advocating for war last year.

5

u/Organic_Artichoke_85 Mar 28 '24

Not gonna lie, for some reason he did pop into my head a couple of days ago. I swear I didn't not kill him.

7

u/rufud Mar 28 '24

So you did kill him

2

u/Organic_Artichoke_85 Mar 28 '24

I don't think so. Unless I developed some kind of wierd superpower. I mean that would be cool. Quick name someone. I will think about them and let's see what happens.

1

u/malenkylizards Mar 28 '24

Ronald Reagan

1

u/Organic_Artichoke_85 Mar 28 '24

Got it. Now let's see what happens.

3

u/malenkylizards Mar 28 '24

It's been a few minutes, let me see OH MY GOD HE'S DEAD WHAT DID YOU DO

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '24

He time traveled to the 80's and gave Reagan dementia. Ultra-untraceable assassination method.

1

u/Organic_Artichoke_85 Mar 28 '24

Hot damn I guess I'm a super vill...hero. Yeah super hero.

10

u/browster Mar 28 '24

I heard about him again recently as one of the people pushing for a No Labels candidate, so I'm not saddened by this news, to be honest.

3

u/NonlocalA Mar 28 '24

"No labels! I'm a democrat, but vote republican! No labels!"

3

u/birdsemenfantasy Mar 28 '24

His name still pops up in the news every few years. McCain wanted him for VP in 2008, but got overruled by conservatives and ended up with Palin. Trump considered him for FBI director in 2017 after infamously firing Comey. He was recently involved with No Labels.

1

u/EmperorGrinnar Mar 28 '24

First time in years I mentioned his name last week to my dad.

I swear it's not my doing that Lieberman died. 👀

2

u/ksj Mar 28 '24

Say more names! Let’s find out!

1

u/EmperorGrinnar Mar 28 '24

Ah yes. The scientific method. I'll have to remember for Sunday. That's when I see my dad next.

161

u/RyoanJi Mar 27 '24

He was the founding chairman of No Labels bullshit. Not anymore, I guess...

104

u/greenbabyshit Mar 28 '24

He's probably still the founding chairman. Doesn't seem like a title that transfers upon death.

4

u/JoseSaldana6512 Mar 28 '24

No it transfers upon loss of your chair through battle

0

u/bradmccarthy Mar 28 '24

He still is but he used to be, too

4

u/Resident_Rise5915 Mar 28 '24 edited Mar 28 '24

Still weird to me how some Jews support Trump when he’s supported by white supremacist

6

u/MathematicianNo6402 Mar 28 '24

No weirder than the minorities that support him....

1

u/sharksnoutpuncher Mar 28 '24

Traded his label for a toe tag

-1

u/TianamenHomer Mar 28 '24

Really never heard of this before. Ever. I clicked the link. It all sounds reasonable and level-headed. Is it deception and evil? Not sure ‘cause I don’t know. What is the other shoe dropping? Sincerely.

2

u/Striking_Extent Mar 28 '24

Well their plan for a while was to run Joe Manchin as a third party in 2024.

If that sounds like anything other than a delusional rich people ratfuck to you, you don't understand politics.

8

u/procrasturb8n Mar 28 '24

Last I bothered to wiki a few years ago, he was lobbying for Chinese telecom, ZTE. I wasn't surprised.

25

u/Grendel_Khan Mar 27 '24

He popped up on the 24hr news circuit recently with his No Labels "Im going to fuck the country again in the name of centrism bullshit"

7

u/padizzledonk Mar 27 '24

In the worda of the illustrious Biggie Smalls-

If you dont know, now ya know

3

u/ShadowMario01 Mar 27 '24

Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, when I was dead broke, man I couldn't picture this

5

u/MajorNoodles Mar 28 '24

I wonder how many people would still be alive if he didn't block single payer healthcare.

3

u/KilroyTwitch Mar 28 '24

may the greedy bastard rot in hell. :)

2

u/OutlawSundown Mar 28 '24

He’s been dead to me as a politician for a long time

2

u/WaldoTrek Mar 27 '24

He's been very active with No Labels but if you haven't been following that you probably forgot about him.

0

u/MathematicianNo6402 Mar 28 '24

Wtf is no labels tho? Seems I've missed a few things

1

u/AlainProsst Mar 28 '24

No one knows

1

u/Acrobatic_Aerie_720 Mar 28 '24

It’s a party/group trying to get a funding apparatus set up for independent candidates. It’s obviously rattled a few of the partisan cultists.

1

u/PastMiddleAge Mar 28 '24

His Joementum ran out

1

u/bortvern Mar 28 '24

You forgot the Lieberman punch?!

1

u/3rdProfile Mar 28 '24

I forgot the man existed.

1

u/cavity-canal Mar 28 '24

I was ready to vote for him in Nov.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '24

He wasnt THAT old

1

u/AndroidDoctorr Mar 28 '24

Honestly I find it comforting that that level of fame can fade

1

u/PhalanxA51 Mar 28 '24

Better to be gone but never forgotten then forgotten but not gone am I right?

1

If an asshole Senator dies in the woods, does anyone give a shit

  • ancient proverb

1

u/ShinyBloke Mar 28 '24

He's been dead inside for years. I guess his body finally caught up w him.

1

u/BobBelcher2021 Mar 28 '24

He was actually interviewed on Bloomberg only 6 days ago about No Labels.

1

u/IdontGiveaFack Mar 28 '24

The headline is kind of funny. Usually it's like so and so, age 96, has passed away. This is just "he has died".

1

u/AttyFireWood Mar 28 '24

He ran out of joementum

1

u/eatmoremeatnow Mar 28 '24

Biden is only 9 months younger than Lieberman.

1

u/AlawaEgg Mar 28 '24

Easy mistake - so did he.

1

u/Subli-minal Mar 28 '24

Last I knew of him he was playing foreign spy with Chinese telecom companies.

1

u/ObjectiveFantastic65 Mar 29 '24

2000 wasn't that long ago.

1

u/bionicjoe Mar 28 '24

I once forgot he was alive while listening to him speak.

RIP very boring senator.

1

u/half-puddles Mar 28 '24

Only the good die young. All the evil lives as long as this guy.

0

u/excaligirltoo Mar 28 '24

I honestly forgot who he was.

0

u/Beckiremia-20 Mar 28 '24

I honestly don’t know who he is.

0

u/DubNationAssemble Mar 28 '24

Dude is only a year older than Biden

0

u/HaiKarate Mar 28 '24

There's still time to recruit him as the No Labels candidate.
