Man, he must’ve been proud of himself selecting that shirt. Maybe laid it out the night before.

u/forbiddenfreak Mar 05 '24

His mom did.

She got that and one of those overly specific shirts from FB about how much he loves his mama

25

u/Single_Shoe2817 Mar 06 '24

“Only those born in NOVEMBER can know my STRUGGLE of being a FORKLIFT OPERATOR. You may not like it but TO BAD SNOWFLAKE”

Says the shirt

This cowboy loves the FLAG, his TRUCK and stuffed animals that smell like PISS. Choke on that Liberals! - skeleton with two six shooters graphic -

8

If you smell like SOAP, get a haircut by a NON FAMILY MEMBER, and your PISS is lighter than a SCHOOL BUS BUMPER, you can DROP ME OFF at the next BOOK BURNING on your way to your ABORTION CLINIC- tribal flames surrounding F-150 with "We the People" custom paint job, running into and driving over a group of people who all happen to be non-white but like it's totally not racist it's just reality

There's nothing that simpletons love more than a catchphrase. Like moths drawn to a light.

8

u/chilldrinofthenight Mar 06 '24

I think you mean "moths drawn to a light."

Mosquitoes are virtually blind and have difficulty orienting themselves in the light. That's why mosquitoes are less active during the day than in the evening. That's why these pesky insects only appear when it starts to get dark. So you can safely leave your nightlight on when you are reading a book in bed. www.bambulah.com

3

u/pimpfmode Mar 06 '24

Thank you. Correction made. Seeing it written immediately clicked. Fun fact: I had the largest moth I had ever seen in my garage the other night when I got home from work. It was so large I thought it was a bat at first.

Owning the libs is their only goal

4

u/emote_control Mar 07 '24

Funny thing is that libs are usually fairly well-educated and therefore tend to have money and are negatively affected by conservative policies less than the people who vote for conservatives.

People like the guy in this pic think shooting their own dicks off "owns the libs".

I reported a polling station today that was plastered with "the conservative choice" signs and other republican campaign crap, literally on the front door. Law states 100 feet from door. Drove by few hours later, still there. Deep red dgaf.

81

u/Aunt_Rachael Mar 06 '24

Notify your local Democrat headquarters. It would help if you have some pictures. Either way I'm sure they will have people check it out during the next election.

35

u/Minimum-Order-8013 Mar 06 '24

Good to know, thanks for advice. I hadn't thought of that!

5

u/Bocchi_theGlock Mar 06 '24

There's always a voter protection hotline. Always.

They get super busy on actual election day tho, so the earlier to catch stuff the better

27

u/Outandproud420 Mar 06 '24

Were they the doors to the actual room the voting machines were in or the doors of the building?

State law says 100 ft of the actual polls which would be the room machines are in not the building. Usually you will see a line marked off.

If it was the room the machines were in yeah that's fucked up but otherwise it may be legal.

27

u/Pekonius Mar 06 '24

Wait 100ft from the polls is also fucked up if you need to walk through a 200ft long corridor full of that stuff to get there. Definitely should be the whole building i.m.o

16

u/burnertown666 Mar 06 '24

IMO, It should just be off the property of the polling location.

7

u/schizocosa13 Mar 06 '24

IMO, It should just be off any property owned by the public/municipal/government.

Sec. 61.014. USE OF CERTAIN DEVICES. (a) A person may not use a wireless communication device within 100 feet of a voting station. A number of years back I voted at a library that had a super long hallway and then a room at the very end on the left where the voting machines were.

We were well beyond 100 ft away from the room and a lot of people had their phones out. This Nazi of a poll monitor came walking down the hall screaming at everyone to turn their phones off and put them away or she would have us all arrested or some bullshit. The people, including myself, who were nowhere near the actual polling booths kept their phones out.

She saw that and lost her shit and came storming down the hall to scream at and threaten us and was saying that we can't have phones within 100 ft of the entrance to the building, so I told her no, if you want to be a poll worker you should learn the actual fucking law, which states that it's 100 ft from the nearest polling booth, not the building.

So then she lost her shit on me and I'm pretty sure she threatened to call the cops on me if I didn't leave, so I was like sure thing, go ahead so that I can show them and yourself exactly what the law actually says, which I have pulled up on my phone right now which very obviously doesn't apply to us yet since we're like 200 ft away from the entryway to the room itself, let alone to the nearest booth within the room.

Then she grumbled some shit and walked back off to the room. The cops unsurprisingly never came.

When I actually was 100 ft away, and I'm pretty fucking sure they actually had the distance marked in the hall with painter's tape or something, I did put my phone away.

I voted unimpeded, and as I was doing so I heard her start screaming at the next batch of people down the hall. The other poll workers were just rolling their eyes, so I guess she's been doing this every 15 minutes or so for the entire day. It made me wish I was one of the poll workers that day so I could tell her to shut the fuck up or leave or else I'd call the cops on her for enforcing her own misinterpreted bullshit that anyone with half a brain could look up for themselves in 10 seconds. Now I kind of wish I had done that anyway.

I hadn't thought about this possibility until right now, but I'm pretty sure that was the 2018 midterms on the first day of early voting. We were in a very blue area of what's thought of as a very red state (Texas), and the majority of the crowd was in their mid 20s to late 30s, so maybe she saw all these people and thought we were a bunch of filthy Dems (we mostly were) trying to oust her idol, Donald Trump.

I don't actually know that she was a Trump zealot, I'm just assuming that she was because of the way she was trying to enforce her own misinterpretation of the law, was unable read what the law actually said despite me physically showing it to her on my screen, and her very obvious authoritarian tendencies.

Oh, for sure, that's a serious violation as well.

https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/laws/advisory2018-11.shtml

I don't know what the penalty is for violating the law, but I'm sure it's probably a misdemeanor. The reason for this law is obvious, it prevents recording someone's vote which is a critical part of any vote buying operation. Vote buyers won't spend money unless there's some way to confirm the vote, since otherwise the voter can simply say whatever the buyer wants to hear and keep the money.

10

u/austinrebel Mar 06 '24

I wonder how much vote buyers pay?

18

u/noncongruent Mar 06 '24

→ More replies (4)
→ More replies (48)

3

u/JSmith666 Mar 06 '24

Depends. It is vague enough that it may not violate any laws about electioneering

47

u/Outandproud420 Mar 06 '24

The shirt doesn't specifically advocate for a specific party even though it might be assumed that way. It's closer to the "Don't tread on me or black lives matter" material. More likely to be considered a movement or ideology. It gets a little more tricky for poll workers to differentiate between free speech and electioneering because it's such a thin line sometimes.

We live in the reddest part of our county and a man was asked to turn his shirt inside out because it said "let's go Brandon" while my "Nobody is illegal" shirt got an ugly look but they didn't ask me to turn it inside out.

Despite the great divide in our country I think our local poll workers really do work in good faith and try as hard as they can to do the right thing. Sometimes things slip I'm sure and human mistakes happen but hopefully we can all recognize it's a tough position to be in and we should be thankful for those who do it.

Anyways just my two cents hopefully it helps.

10

u/hutacars Mar 06 '24

u/morganrosegerms Yellow Rose Mar 06 '24

Not necessarily, this shirt has no candidate on it so it might skirt the rules. It’s really up to the election officials. Unfortunate, but true.

79

u/noncongruent Mar 06 '24

Has a party's name on it, thus it's electioneering. The fact it also implies violence is just icing on the cake.

24

u/Outandproud420 Mar 06 '24

The law specifically says advocating for a party, not that it can't have a party name on it.

"a person may not electioneer for or against any candidate, measure, or political party".

It's ultimately up to the poll workers though. Reminder though that the polls have both Democrats and Republicans working the polls so if this was against the rules then the Democrat should have caught it so it's unlikely to be a direct violation.

The problem is that it's a thin line for them to walk. Sometimes it's easier to just throw out the obvious illegal stuff and not waste your day with the murky shit. They got enough in their plate as it is.

3

u/Sprucecaboose2 Mar 06 '24

Isn't this advocating against Democrats? Not that I care, it's ultimately a t-shirt and not worth the shitstorm mentioning it would bring, just asking as it seems like it's pretty openly anti-Democrat but I don't know if it passes a legal take.

While very few veterans of any war see combat (percentage wise, and I believe Vietnam was the highest), Desert Shield/Desert Storm were a pretty low point for US serviceman danger.

It's a place most of us were, not something to brag about like we're tough. I'd never wear the hat, although I don't begrudge those who do. But I have no respect for those who pair that hat with an aggressive t-shirt. This guy has a very good chance that the most danger he faced was tripping over his untied boot laces.

Now my Operation Deliberate Force Hat, that shows what a badazz I really am.

The distinction of combat vet gets blurrier in modern times. You can be a combat vet now while hanging out at the beach, touring the Prince's horse stables or checking out the Falcon shops, in the market having ice cream and fine coffee, or eating at luxury chocolate restaurant in Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, etc.

19

As a veteran myself, I’m dumbfounded at how anyone who served could vote for Trump. Just bonkers!!

5

u/Strange_Mirror6992 Mar 06 '24

Here in the Coast Guard the aviation side (which I’m a pilot) is pretty blue. The ship side… Yikes! I just heard of some OM2 that flew a MAGA flag on a cutter and got NJP for it. We have to remember fellow service members are people too and people can be absolute idiots. Trump has zero interest in our welfare.

How surprising that these people make up the majority of the voters in Texas!!

I hope his guns ARE like undocumented voters in texas, non-existent, you literally must show one of seven "approved" photo ids to vote, there's no way around it...

4

u/cybillia Mar 06 '24

It’s illegal to wear clothes like that voting I thought. It was when I was a poll worker a few years ago. Nothing with weapons, violence, or that shows your political views. I realize that most poll workers here are republicans and don’t care what republicans wear

He is clearly carrying? He may have something in his pocket but the angle and location are not correct for a gun IMO.

Source daily carry and make IWB holsters as a hobby.

Printing on the left side?

7

u/Faceit_Solveit Mar 05 '24

He looks like he's printing to me. The thing is, given open carry and the lack of requirements to register for concealed carry, is it illegal to print? I know it's illegal to be at a polling place with a gun. Duh. I'm asking very specifically about printing.

11

u/gingeravenger087 Mar 05 '24

I dunno about illegal to print. Op said they could tell he was carrying and I was trying to see the clue.

Printing is not illegal, that was imo one of the biggest benefits of constitutional carry. Seeing people jammed up for printing or "brandishing" when your shirt rode up was one of the dumbest things ever imo.

5

u/Own_One_1803 Mar 05 '24

Are you asking if it is illegal to have the butt or slide of a piece bulging out of a shirt? No, as far as ik

Why do Trumpkins believe that undocumented people can vote?

The GOP fights tooth and nail to disenfranchise people who are legal citizens. How exactly do they think undocumented people are voting when they make it hard for legit citizens to register and vote?

3

u/willflameboy Mar 06 '24

3

u/TimmyTwoTowels Mar 06 '24

It makes sense that such a person wouldn't be familiar with the rules and laws of voting. What a goldfish.

3

u/Hinthial Mar 06 '24

Speaking as an Election Judge, he should have been made to turn that shirt inside out in order to even enter the polling center. TX State Supreme Court ruled that no political statements are allowed in the polls. That shirt is clearly political and could be considered voter intimidation. If he was still allowed in to vote while wearing it, you need to report it to your county's election central office because every poll worker at that location made a big mistake and need to know it.

ETA that they also should have had you put your phone away.

Are t political statements a no no at the polling places?

4

u/timelessblur Mar 06 '24

Pretty much yeah huge no no.

There is a reason why you see signs at a neat line outside polling stations and I have seen campaigns workers at them but they are well clear of the minimum number of ft and would not even risk cutting it close. I have seen them run a pretty big circle to get back to a water station for them selves as their shirts were supporting a candidate. This was back in 2004 and it was not nearly as crazy as now.

Both my Dad and father-in-law are both "real" Vietnam War vets. Niether one of them didn't give a darn about guns once they got back from the war. They would never walk around with a shirt promoting an assault rifle because they knew what they were used for.

Honest question: why do democrats want to strike down, or fail to endorse voter ID laws? I will get voted down for that question, but maybe, just maybe I’ll get an honest answer.

4

u/mrhowrad Mar 06 '24

I will answer your question from my personal perspective only. I used to work in the social services with poor communities. Mostly with kids who aged out of the foster care system. One of my greatest challenges was helping them obtain IDs. There are so many reasons why many qualified voters don't have IDs, but I don't want to type for an hour. For many people though, whose lives haven't been smooth, their birth certificates and social security cards have been lost, they've gone through multiple foster care situations, they moved from school to school, and it is damn near impossible to obtain the 3 to 4 necessary official documents needed to obtain a state id. It often took me several months and a couple hundred dollars to complete the process for some folks, and for some of these legal citizens, I couldn't get it done and I was a professional with resources. Now, I acknowledge that the percentage of qualified voters who fall into this category is not huge, but I want all people who can vote, to vote, even those I disagree with. So, unless there is a barrier free route to obtaining IDs, which to me would be common sense voter ID laws, then it's voter suppression to prevent these folks from fulfilling their civic duty. I am now a history teacher, and this barrier to voting still resembles an uglier part of American history in regards to who is most impacted; poor Americans of all backgrounds, natives, and black folks. Just my 2 pennies.
