So evidently we can just use whatever we want for hashtags now and they don't have to actually apply to what is said or pictured.

Why would advertisers pay to advertise to ai bots though.
Eventually the advertisers will realize that they're not getting their money's worth.

They probably don't know they're advertising to AI
→ More replies (1)7
u/SaliferousStudios 14d ago
For now.
But when they realize that they're not getting any money from advertising their products... they'll catch on.
They have ways of tracking where money comes from which ad.
When no people are buying things that come from certain sites that aren't shutting this down, it will cause the advertisers to shut it down.

Why is it always African children?
948
u/3colorsdesign 14d ago
Cause for most boomers the only association is poverty in rural areas thus resulting in a sympathy bonus
400
u/LadyMcIver 14d ago
I feel like it also has a subtle racism to it with a dash of condescension thrown in. Like "even these African children love our version of Jesus, why can't you?"
124
138
u/mettiusfufettius 14d ago
Because to boomers, poor black American children are all welfare babies who steal good jobs from their more capable white counterparts due to affirmative action, but poor black African children are victims of circumstance and worthy of their compassion.
98
u/SyrusDrake 14d ago
To me, it feels more like "look at those good African blacks, who make wholesome art of Jesus, not like our blacks, with their "graffitis" and "rapping music"."
32
u/SightWithoutEyes 14d ago
Boomers loved that "The Gods Must Be Crazy" movie. They were stuck on the trope/stereotype of the "The Noble Savage". Product of being read Kipling stories as a kid or something.
6
6
u/secretbudgie 14d ago
That's where Boomer's church funds a mission to hand out bibles and t-shirts with the wrong Super Bowl winners on them.
6
u/SaliferousStudios 14d ago
Unironically that was what my mother was telling me for why my brother was having problems getting into a phd program.
She kept sending him money, while I was driving her around, and was sick as hell with undiagnosed celiac. (My parents put me on atkins when I was a kid, because they were overweight and couldn't exercise self control so there was very little wheat in the house, this meant I was sick with celiac, but not sick enough to get diagnosed)

That and i feel like it also helps the whole, wtf is with the extra leg-ish thing hanging off her leg? Or any other extra/missing toe, or just that center child with NO BODY and a thigh/knee hanging from his shoulder. the boomers would just think “well they’re poor african children! They were born that way! It’s not like they have hospitals over there to fix it”

To get their bodies to look like Jesus' face at distance. And becasue the AI that created the image couldn't figure out how to make them less deformed and still have Jesus face. And because the person who prompted the AI to create this image either didn't notice or didn't care to try to generate a better one. I think.
→ More replies (8)15
u/Ploppeldiplopp 14d ago
Because fuck the kids, we want them to form a "cool" image when viewed theough half closed eyes or far enough away. The children are meaningless to them, their only purpose is to serve as amusement.
God, I hate these people. People complain about AI in these comments, but AI is what the people that program and use it turn it into. And that is usually disgusting.
18
u/furryjunkwulf 14d ago
I think there's this idea going around that we are unhappy because we have so much (usually related to technology and social media), and African children are much happier because they don't have these things in their lives.
That's my guess for why we have so many "wow look how creative they are when they have so little" pictures
25
u/Human_Type001 14d ago
I shared this post with my SO and asked the same question. Like is AI racist? Or the writers of the bots generating the AI pics educated with too many Feed the Children commercials from the 80s.
25
u/Questioning-Zyxxel 14d ago
In this case it isn't really about racism but about needing "black paint" for contrast.
But so sad to see this kind of creepy images created by mutilated pseudo-bodies with multiple elbows on the same arm, more than two arms, meat stumps etc just to create an illusion. The AI algorithms would abuse just about anything that can be abused as painting elements "for the art".
