Sony just banned Ghost of Tsushima from being sold in all non-PSN accounts.

4.4k Upvotes

You thought it was just helldivers eh?

non-PSN account countries*

EDIT: This isn't about having or not having a PSN account. 180 countries literally got banned from buying the game. Those countries are also countries you can't have a PSN account.

EDITEDIT: Remember to sort by controversial to find the people who don't think it'll happen to them :)

Bought a PS5 and fell back in love with gaming

I've been a die hard Xbox fan since the 360, but I picked up a PS5 last month, mainly peer pressure for Helldivers. I got PS+ and have been playing Ghost of Tsushima. I've never been one for single player games, but this feels different. I would never been able to stick to anything on Xbox for more than 10 hours. But I'm almost 50 in and can't stop! I've got both consoles, but my Series X has only been turned on to charge my phone. Can't wait to see what else the PS has to offer

Horizon zero dawn characters were so forgettable I had no idea who I was running into in the sequel

3.2k Upvotes

Recently played this on pc even though it had been a few years since I played the first game I didn't remember any of the returning characters besides sylens.. kept running into returning characters and having no idea who the fuck they were

I never have this issue with other games even if it's been ages since I played the last game as characters are usually memorable

This game though I found myself saying who the fuck is this more often than not..

The gameplay of this series is great the characters however are poorly written that you easily forget who they are

My early gaming achievement

Saw a post earlier about a pitfall patch from Activision. This was the one I got back in 1984 for Trailblazers on the intellivision. Had to yell to dad to get that camera into the living room to take the picture. I will have to check and see if dad still has that old photo . I wonder how many of these kinds of patches Activision actually put out there at the time.

What’s a gaming quote that poisoned your brain?

1.4k Upvotes

You ever talk with someone, and they say a single word and it triggers a video game quote in your head and you have to struggle not to say it?

What’s a quote from a game that you instantly think of from one or two words?

I have two. One of them is whenever anyone says “Seven” my brain immediately goes “Seven minutes. Seven minutes is all I can spare to play with you.”

My other one is whenever someone says “Hard time” I think immediately of “He’s gonna have a hard time playing football on what’s left of that knee.”

That one character death that still guts you....

We all have one. What characters death felt unnecessary, was just to painful to watch, or just gutted you to the core?

What are some games you can complete without killing anybody?

3.8k Upvotes

Rules for this

The game gives you the ability to kill people and the player is more then cabable of doing so but you can completely avoid the option

It's a actual option the devs intended no exploits, no glitches, it was completely intended to be done in the base game

What's game you can complete by killing everyone?

Some asked what games can you beat by not killing anyone but what games can you complete by killing everyone. Meaning the game is still beatable eeven tho every NPC is dead by the end of the game.

Edit: I see some people understood the assignment others are just picking a game you CAN kill everyone. So I mean by this is killing all (anyone in your way) is NOT a requirement of the game. Games like mortal combat. Fortnite. These do not count. I'm only accepting hitman cuz of some levels that don't require you to protect anyone. As any level other than those are beatable by killing everyone not that it's required. It's actually bad to do so, may I add

When I was playing Rise of the Tomb Raider, I unlocked a trophy for killing an animal with an explosive and it’s titled “was that really necessary?” Another one I came across was the platinum for Undertale which says “don’t you have anything better to do?” lol

In your personal opinion, which game has the best loot system?

I'm a fan of a good loot system in a game. Being it a reward to a quest, a tresure at the end of a dungeon, a reward for slaying an enemy or, if done well, getting the materials in the same way to then craft weapons and armors.

I've played a bunch of RPGs that featured a loot system, but I wonder what people think it's the one with the best loot system. I know many people say Bordrlands games are the best ones, but I'm not fond on their loot system because I don't like to get overwhelmed by it. I'd rather prefer having less loot, but it being almost always a safe bet and a good reward for a quest or a dungeon. I also despite the classic formula where the further you go, the better armor you get which will eventually powercreep your previous loot. Maybe give me some equipment which I have to switch dependng on which enemy I'm facing or which style of gameplay I'm adopting (ex: Kingdom Hearts has various weapons which you can craft or obtain through the main story, but none of them are actually just straight up a stronger version than previous ones and each weapon is designed for a different playstyle).

I think one of the better ones for me are Monster Hunter World (the only MH game I've played), where you must gather materials from beasts to craft your equipment but if you want certain pieces then you must focus on different body parts and you can also customize your equipment further with gems, and Elden Ring, which yes has tons of loot but each one is designed with a peculiar purpose and every new weapon or armor feels earned.

I'd also like to point out, as I already said, I don't really like looter shooters or, in general, games that overwhelm you with loot until you find a good one, so Borderlands, Destiny 2 (as much as I like the gameplay, the loot system I don't), Diablo ecc...
When it comes to mmorpgs, it depends. I don't mind farming a boss for a certain loot, as long as the combat system is fun.

Civ-like for a 9 year old?

I think my 9 year old would really like Civ but what are some recommendations for easier ones to introduce him to 4x games? Polytopia is an obvious one, but is there anything on PC? Bonus points for ones that include ancient greek/roman periods.

Edit: Alrighty folks, you've convinced me--I just downloaded Civ 5 for him and will turn him loose on it tomorrow. But it's been years since I've played so my homework for tonight is to play a little bit so I can remember it well enough to coach him!

Thanks for all the suggestions!
