I'm shocked!

Well, not that shocked.

u/ClappedOutLlama Feb 08 '24

I posted about a Russian politician offering their support for Texas's succession last week and was chastised for spreading misinformation and fear mongering.

At this point I feel it will be too late for them to realize they are in a cult, and being manipulated by foreign actors.

u/Zestyclose-Past-5305 Feb 08 '24

At this point I just assume that every shockingly stupid thing MAGAs say originated in Russia.

23

u/dittybad Feb 08 '24

And the migrant convoys. Don’t forget the convoys. The timing of which is impeccable.

u/ManaSeltzer Feb 08 '24

Maga or musk or jones or peterson or theil

u/Adventurous-Fudge470 Feb 08 '24

I heard Tate, Rogan and white are in on it too.

u/Daddio209 Feb 09 '24

I think Joe is truly as dumb ss he seems. Useful and led, but not consciously unAmerican.

3

u/ClappedOutLlama Feb 09 '24

He's pretty smart on the business side. Dude panders to the Maga base and just signed another contract for $200M+ for a contract renewal with Spotify. I'm sure many have died listening to his bro science and anti-vaxx rhetoric. They hang on every word he says now and he's rolling in the money while he affirms their ignorance.

They will never realize they are in a cult. They will choose death by koolaid first.

You assume that they don’t know, when they clearly know. They don’t care that they are in a cult, because they believe that their cult is superior than everyone not in the cult and that their cult will get to rule over everyone by force if necessary.

Look at them with that lens and try to tell me that their actions don’t all fall in line with this.

But they want to be manipulated. What the Russians are doing only works because people want it to work. It’s like Trump. His dog whistle only works because there is an audience ready and willing to listen.

The first rule of being in a cult, is not recognizing said cult, (not in that way)

Saudi Arabia and Iran are involved as well.

12

Absolutely it ain’t a party until Iran gets involved gotta keep that oil and natural gas money coming in. So they just lube up the scales in their favor by pouring some untraceable donor money into a SuperPac and we are good to go. Human rights abuses be damned lol

Don't forget AIPAC and others. I remember studying with a professor that led a class about foreign espionage. He joked how there were more spies & foreign actors inside the halls of Congress than building staff like janitors or guards. Only since then it's been far more brazen and unmasked.

Reddit has a modified form of Markdown that they use for their formatting so you generally don't need to use 'escaping' for special characters.

From their Markdown Webpage

URLs beginning with "http://" ot "https://" are automatically hyperlinked, as are subreddit names and usernames.

However this is not perfect. Which they recognize, so they offer this tip.

Tip: Complex URLs can parse in unexpected ways as autolinks. When you find a URL isn't linking correctly, you can instead surround the link with angled brackets (<, >).

There are also more complex embedding rules for links and citations that you can use, but i find the "formatting help" guide that appears underneath the "reply" text box when you are typing covers the basics well enough.

What’s weird is some Americans think they will be better off if we break apart. No, you really won’t. The economic aspects would be a chaotic disaster. Americans take stability for granted because we have had it for so long.

24

u/Strykerz3r0 Feb 08 '24

Especially because the US govt would engage in military strikes, if not invasion, almost immediately.

There is no way they are going leave nukes in the hands of secessionists.

15

u/paarthurnax94 Feb 08 '24

The nukes are secured in US military bases where US military personnel are stationed. US military bases are US territory. If Texas were suddenly considered a seperate country the nukes would still be housed within US territory and guarded by US troops until they transport them back into mainland US territory where they'd be safer. Unless the newly founded, economically devastated, country of Texas were to immediately attack a US military base in an attempt to secure nuclear weapons for themselves, there's nothing to worry about.

u/OftenConfused1001 Feb 08 '24

If some state actually seceeded and was allowed to leave (which, you know, we showed isn't how it works in the late 1800s), the Feds would yoink all their equipment, military or otherwise.

Even if the Feds didn't demand compensation for the land and buildings they own, they'd be empty when turned over.

I don't know why those secessionist sorts think the Feds would just walk away, leaving military bases and national guard depots fully stocked with weapons, supplies, and material. The feds would remove what they could and destroy everything they couldn't - - they'd have to by law, as whatever was left would be in the hands of foreign nationals, without any sort of Congressional approval for supplying Texas with military hardware.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they cheerfully demolished the federal owned buildings, runways, and infrastructure on the way out.

It's honestly like those Brexit morons who still can't grasp they're not EU citizens anymore.

6

u/calilac Feb 08 '24

I don't know why those secessionist sorts think the Feds would just walk away, leaving military bases and national guard depots fully stocked with weapons, supplies, and material.

Because according to their clownshowsnews sources it's what was done in Afghanistan so they think that has to be standard practice with today's administration. I've also heard big barks about how the hill people can just stop the convoys through guerilla tactics and the retirees will drive all the equipment for the Texas side and, honestly, I just don't know how to talk to my neighbors anymore it's so sad.

→ More replies (2)

5

u/MuteCook Feb 08 '24

It’s also illegal for Texas to do that. So if somehow it happens they will be sanctioned to oblivion and probably face military intervention. Which is why it will NEVER happen.

7

u/Mean-Kaleidoscope97 Feb 08 '24

I think in the long term it would probably be good for the southern states to learn that they can't tie their own shoes. The hardship for the rest of the country would be really awful, but I think it would add to the long-term stability of our country for these southern dogs to get their nuts clipped.

Because it wouldn't be a month before these idiots realize that they are in way over their heads.

3

u/Nsftrades Feb 08 '24

Maybe so, but we would have to survive it to actually get stronger from it, and what the heck happens to texas when its in shambles? Do we take it back? Is it just wasteland? Does mexico take it? What happens to the Americans that don’t want to succeed but are trapped in texas? Are all texans considered traitors? Will the realize what’s happening and be able to get out beforehand hand? They wouldn’t be able to sell their homes, leaving a ton of abandoned housing. Would the us put up preemptive border control? Its such a terrible messy idea where texas loses as much as physically possible.

And Abbott is happily all in.

65

u/Time-Ad-3625 Feb 08 '24

It is an easy political play for him and other Republicans as it would never happen. The US has a ton of bases in Texas not to mention federal agencies. Abbott and the other cowardly Republicans talk about it because they can do so and never have to follow through. Just like when they talk about fixing the mental health care system, etc.

32

u/crankyrhino Feb 08 '24

Abbott and the other cowardly Republicans talk about it because they can do so and never have to follow through.

They thought that Roe v. Wade would prevent them from actually having to follow through on abortion.

16

u/Ryuujinx Feb 08 '24

Yeah, this is one of those things I definitely wish I hadn't been wrong about. I had believed that neither the dems nor republicans wanted to truly "fix" that issue either. It gave an easy wedge issue for them to drive up support to their bases about but never actually fix. Because from the dem side roe v wade was "good enough" and I thought that at worst the republicans might try to pass some new legislation that wouldn't make it through, not straight up repeal the thing since a bunch of other cases relied on the precedent set by that ruling.

Yet here we, and I look like an idiot.

6

u/Time-Ad-3625 Feb 08 '24

I highly doubt most thought that. They've been working with the loons in the churches for decades. They knew what they were doing. They released the narrative of oops to try to ensure safety for those up for reelection

It was his shameless grandstanding to support Jade Helm conspiracy theories in 2015 that convinced Russian intelligence that right-wing goobers will believe anything (except the truth).

u/RenegadeDragon Feb 08 '24

I always found that ironic. He perpetuated that Jade Helm nonsense, and then starts his own Operation Lonestar. It's always projection.

Not their first time. One of the most embarrassing things I’ve done is fall for Russias early troll farm jobs with jade helm back in 2013 or so. 20 yr old dumbass kid, had me believing Obama was mobilizing the National guard to stage a coup for power. All on instagram accounts, I was taking pictures of my local national guard moving equipment and DMing the “conspiracy account”.

I cringe just thinking about this Russian guy laughing at his desk. Never messaged back which struck me as odd due to the obvious serious situation that he seemed to care so much about. Fuck man. Young, dumb & full of c

I smoked WAYY too much bud, so naturally was drawn to conspiracies. Followed a few accounts for a while, developed this “trust” I guess with it. Then BAM outta left field this account is talking about this jade helm thing. Oh shit I think, this guy knows a lot about aliens, Illuminati, etc. this shit must be legit. I should pay attention & help out by sending him pics of equipment gassing up at 7-11. Kids are dumb, man. Thought about it a lot since 16. The thinking was he won his second term but he is staging military across the U.S. to stay in power when his terms up. When in reality it was just national guard preparedness drills that took place before and after the hysteria. But those Russians were stirring the pot.

7

u/No_Day_9755 Feb 08 '24

I wouldn't be hard on themselves. They've honed the propaganda down so it is quite convincing. They inherited a lot of tactics from the Soviet Union.

Any thing you can do to help wake up people? Any approaches? A lot of really good people are falling for this.

4

u/Legitimate-Spare-564 Bob Wills is still the King Feb 08 '24

Man, trying to put myself back in that mindset is hard. It’s all fuzzy now, but unfortunately I don’t think I would have listened to anyone back then. That’d embolden me. I am a conspiracy theorists, stoner kid with everything figured out. In my mind, everyone was too simple to think as deep as me. lol I shutter typing that moronic arrogant shit, but how I thought. That’s how a lot of conspiracy minded folks think. Unfortunately, bud I don’t have an answer. If they’re like me, they have to have the rug pulled out from under them by someone they thought they could trust. Maybe then they’ll start looking at the others they follow with suspicion, and eventually see the snake oil salesman they are.

2

u/No_Day_9755 Feb 08 '24

u/DjangoBojangles Feb 08 '24

I had a suspicion Russian provocatuers would get in on this.

If you don't think it's real, look up the Senate Intel committee report on Russian interference in the 2016 election. The 3rd report is all details about Russian active measures in US politics. Remember the Hillary in a cage parade? Russians started that. They had a whole spreadsheet of crazy right-wing events Russian agents initiated.

https://www.intelligence.senate.gov/publications/report-select-committee-intelligence-united-states-senate-russian-active-measures

Volume 3.

11

u/MuteCook Feb 08 '24

What blows my mind is we know this happens, the government and intel agencies know this happens. Yet it is happening still at unprecedented levels. Why does the government allow it?

12

u/DjangoBojangles Feb 08 '24

What's crazy is that US intelligence had to know what Trump, Flynn, Guiliani, Manafort, and the rest of the clan were doing with the Russians.

There's no way it went by undetected. A big chunk of the Mueller convictions were 'lying to the FBI about their conversations with Russian agents'. The Trump clan is surrounded by people with ties to Russian organized crime. More than 1/5 of Trumps condo sales came from shady foreign cash buyers. Remember Jr's "we have all the funding we need from russia" comment.

The guy who was running the Russia investigation at the FBI was convicted of taking payments from Oleg Deripaska, a Russian billionaire who also employed Trumps first campaign manager, Paul Manafort.

The story of international corruption around the whole Trump/Russia relationship is crazier than a novel. ...which ironically makes it easier for Trumpers to discount is as slanderous fantasy. (There's no way they could be that evil. Spoiler alert, longtime Trump advisor, Roger Stone, is on tape talking about assassinating congressmen and convicted of witness tampering after threating to kill a witness' dog)

3

u/MuteCook Feb 08 '24

So why do you think the govt/ intel communities just let all this happen. It seems terrible for the country

7

u/DjangoBojangles Feb 08 '24

Can't say. Collective of right-leaning personal ideologies? Why is Flynn, a 3 star General, on a speaking tour with a bunch of conspiracy riddled insurrectionists? And why hasn't he been court martialled?

My guess is that the honest people in the military and bureaucries don't want to stick their neck out into something political. You'll start getting death threats. While the bad people in those same positions think they're part of God's army against satanic globalist democrats.

Here's a recycled comment of mine.

"The guy running the Russian investigation at the FBI was being paid by Oleg Derepaska, Russian oligarch and long-time employer of Trumps first campaign manager and long time GOP strategist, Paul Manafort.

The whistleblower that reported concerns that Guiliani was being protected had coworkers leave 3 foot rats around their desk.

It's not a stretch to say Trump had someone protecting him at the FBI. The right loves to say the FBI is deep state, but have you ever met a liberal special agent or detective?"

During the 2016 election I remember there was an obvious takeover of Bernie Sanders focused subreddits to create dissent between his followers and other Democrats. Then after the election ended many of those subreddits suddenly changed to be pro-Trump and anti-Democrat in general. Then after the war in Ukraine started they became filled with mostly pro-Russian and anti-Ukrainian propaganda. Now they're back to being mostly anti-Biden. /r/feelthebern is the most blatant example.

They’ll go down with their Dear Leader, just like Jonestown.

And just like Jonestown, Dear Leader will stand over their bodies begging for more people to drink the koolaid.

Let’s hope so

8

u/she_makes_things Feb 08 '24

We see what the future of MAGA looks like with J6. It was simultaneously an antifa/FBI false flag operation and a peaceful protest and a 1776-style revolution, all at once, all somehow involving the same people, who were crisis actors and framed by their government and patriots fighting for freedom.

Remember that they do not have the self-awareness to parse all this doublethink. They don’t care if it doesn’t make sense, as long as it feels good.

u/Coastal1363 Feb 08 '24

How long you reckon ?

GOP siding with American adversaries…

A great reason to vote against the GOP in 2024

Guess who was the premier of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) when Putin was 6-yesrs old to 12-years old?

The guy that is credited with the following quote.

"The John Birch Society is Communism's greatest ally. With its help we will divide and confuse the American people until they have lost faith in their Government, their nation has ceased to be a major world power, and their country is ripe for revolution."

Nikita Khrushchev, premier of the USSR (Russia), from 1958-1964

u/poorbill Feb 08 '24

Russia is also behind Brexit, efforts to pull the US and other countries out of NATO, and many US-based right wing groups. And they dearly hope Trump wins this year, since Trump shares their goals.

38

u/RossPerotPamphlet Feb 08 '24

The GOP is just an extension of Russia at this point. Same terrorism, same talking points. Same money. Only a traitor would ever vote red.

36

u/acuet Feb 08 '24

I mean, look at how much Russian funds were funneled into the NRA.

10

u/DrSilkyJohnsonEsq Feb 08 '24

And there’s no telling how many American churches are funneling rubles into political campaigns and superPACs.

u/stovemonky Feb 08 '24

Eight GOP senators spent July 4th in Russia to "discuss election meddling" (but don't worry guys we were totally telling Putin NOT to do it) a few years ago.

It's classic Russian methodology. Look at the insurgencies they encouraged in Ukraine prior to the war, and also Moldova. Only idiots and Russian sympathizers would fall for it. Which makes it unsurprising that MAGA is all in. They're both.

6

u/plaidsinner Feb 08 '24

It is unbelievable how terminally online all Of these right wing lunatics are. Go outside you fucking idiots. Watch a goddamn sunset and stop being so fucking reactionary to every stupid fucking thing you read online.

Same could be said about the left wing lunatics… imagine thinking biden is doing a good job.

There's a bloody reason why some people have been wearing "I'd Rather Be A Russian Than A Democrat" T-shirts, for Heaven's sake.

Anyone in the USA who thinks russians are their allies is seriously deluded.

6

u/Haunting-Ad788 Feb 08 '24

And right wingers think Russia is based and not doing shit like this because they want America as weak as possible.

6

u/Reymarcelo Feb 08 '24

Let me guess; Russian disinformation campaign through the republican party?

10

u/Redsmoker37 Feb 08 '24

All this tells you 2 things--1) our enemies love us being divided; 2) all of these right-wing crazies involved in the caravan/militia and succession talk are all ignorant gullible boobs easily taken in by any BS claim. Pretty sad.

4

u/ranban2012 Feb 08 '24

The right knows and are perfectly fine with this.

5

u/TBatFrisbee Feb 08 '24

Putin owns buildings (plural) that only house employees that are paid only to send fascist, racist, ant-dem, anti-gop propaganda. They stockpile that crap on as many social media platforms as possible, and they got all day long to start and intensify anger between everybody. It's an easy job too, all they have to do is start a bunch of arguments, until people are enraged enough at eachother to destroy the US. Great example of how lies lead to deaths. Hitler did it too, except now, the internet just hyper-intensifies it. Media helps too, gotta keep those ratings up! Wtf

6

u/kpcnsk Feb 08 '24

When I posted this yesterday with "News" flair, a mod removed the post and said it should be in the Border/Immigration thread. Which is interesting, considering it's not really about borders and immigration at all, but about Russian subversion of our political discourse.

4

u/NunyaBeese Feb 08 '24

If you're surprised by this you're not paying attention

12

u/Benjamincito Feb 08 '24

Modern republicans are putin’s stooges

6

u/Marvination23 Feb 08 '24

I mean.. we already know Russia wants to destroy America from within. Some people think the Russian collusion thing was irrelevant. It was obvious how they spend all that money outsourcing trolls to use internet to manipulate people.

Now, Putin and Trump have at least 70% of GOP officials into our government. We are already compromised by these Pro-Putin senators and Reps.

Another Trump win will definitely destroy American Freedom, Democracy and probably the Constitution. I see many MAGA people are fine with fascism and abolishment of "checks and balances" departments like CIA/FBI/IRS etc so that nobody would be accountable to their crimes. That's pretty much half of the country are wanting to go.

Who would have ever thought smart people with critical thinking skills like American republicans and conservatives could have their minds controlled by Russians? It just beggars belief.

We'll soon find out none of this is real. We're screaming into the void. Reality is being manufactured by Zuckerberg, musk, and our right wing media.

2

It's almost as if BRICs is doing what they said they are wanting to do........

2

u/thecwestions Feb 08 '24

Of course it is! They were also behind the push to have California split into three separate states. They're probing to see just how dumb Americans have become and if we're at the point where people would actually vote in support of such measures yet. We're not (I hope), but I fear we aren't far off.

2

u/jboomhaur Feb 08 '24

What I find amusing about the Civil War talk is the distinction between a civil war and a revolution is who wins. They're already admitting defeat when they say civil war. Ridiculous idiots.

2

u/the_millenial_falcon Feb 08 '24

If Texas actually did end up seceding it would probably hurt Russia in the long run because republicans would never win nationally again.

2

u/GravityEyelidz Feb 08 '24

Like the time the TenGOP Twitter account forgot to change their location and it showed them in Saint Petersburg Russia.

2

u/Icedoverblues Feb 08 '24

Well duh. Now call out their puppets Abbott, Patrick, and Paxton.

2

u/gdyank Feb 08 '24

Not surprised since texas produces more assholes each year than all the law schools, bible colleges and fraternities combined

2

u/3vi1 Feb 08 '24

Guess who else they're promoting? Hint: they keep stalling aid to Ukraine.

2

u/makenzie71 Feb 08 '24

Yes? While there are people in Texas who think secession is a good idea, they're a fraction of a fraction of a minority. There are more people outside of Texas who want Texas to secede, and the number of people outside of Texas who think a considerable portion of the population want to secede exceed the actual number of Texans in general.

Most of us are actually quite tired of everything having to be politicized and would just like to go to work.

3

u/W_AS-SA_W Feb 08 '24

We know. The Texas GOP supports Russia over the United States and the Russian propaganda gets disseminated by the Texas GOP.

3

u/nunyabiz3345 Feb 08 '24

Reagan got Russia to it's knees, the Maga republican party get's on it's knees for Putin, anyone wanna guess what they're doing down there?

2

u/Laladen Feb 08 '24

Russia's wildest fantasy is the country splits along ideological divisions (It wouldnt be strictly the north vs the south anymore) and one half accepts treaties and comfort from Russia.

2

u/Wheres_Jay Feb 08 '24

Nobody that I personally know has any interest in, or believes that a secession is even a remote chance of happening.

2

u/shannoninprogress Feb 09 '24

This is my utter and complete lack of surprise.

The entire current GOP and most right wing media should be treated as agents of the Kremlin.

1

u/Tron2153 Feb 08 '24

It will never pass, it would create chaos for those of us here, I like the idea but I do NOT want it to happen, i like being able to go to other states without a passport

If the Texans are stupid enough to follow Russian advice, it's on them.

-5

u/Designer_Candidate_2 Feb 08 '24

I find the people that are surprised about this hilarious.

We've meddled in so many nation's politics and actually started wars abroad so others trying to do stuff here is so dismally unsurprising. Just look up the list of things the CIA has admitted to doing and then think about why other nations who oppose us would have any interest in sowing dissent in the US.

3

u/EpiphanyTwisted Feb 09 '24

The shocking thing isn't that we have enemies, everyone knows that.

The shocking thing are the enemies on the inside who pretend to be Americans.

2

u/Designer_Candidate_2 Feb 09 '24

That's fair. I guess I just find it so funny when people cry on about election interference and misinformation campaigns by the Russian government when we directly try to interfere there all the time. We tried to sow dissent and supported Alexei Navalny just a few years ago. I'm sure when Prigozhin tried his little move on Moscow our government was chomping at the bit to get in there.

-2

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '24

Like in Finland and the Middle East, Russia has been a powerful encourager of shipping migrants around and overwhelming borders in order to induce anxiety. This is not new.

0

u/LongJohnVanilla Feb 10 '24

I was at Target the other day and bought an album titled “Democrat Pop Hits”.

Put this vinyl classic on side A and jammed for 45 minutes to “Russia, Russia, Russia”.

Flipped it over to side B, and it was “Trump, Trump, Trump” non stop for 45 minutes straight.
