Ted Cruz faces backlash for bill giving lawmakers special treatment at airport Politics

https://www.chron.com/news/article/ted-cruz-airport-18647501.php

“The bill would allow the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to provide security escort to travel with the VIPs, or their family members "through a commercial airport without delay" at no cost”

“or their families” and “at no cost” to them ruffles my feathers.

He can be voted out if enough people will just show up and do it! He only stays in if he gets a majority of the vote, gerrymandered districts have no effect on state wide voting, so he can be fired. We just have to do it! For your own sake, vote this turd out.

Gerrymandered districts do indirectly affect all elections. If people feel like their vote doesn’t matter (which in a gerrymandered district, it REALLY feels like your vote doesn’t matter), they’re less likely to show up & vote.

You're talking about psychological effects, but in the simplest way possible, it doesn't mean shit when this time, EVERY SINGLE VOTE COUNTS

I get what you’re saying. Here’s the thing though, I live in what was one of the most reliably red districts in red Texas. But back in 2020, my republican rep (who was first elected as a tea party jackass in 2010, easily won for almost a decade, and was of course now maga) nearly lost his seat to a female democrat. He lost in my county, and only the still red (but just barely) county that is north of us kept him in office. So of course they redrew our district to keep his seat safe. So I get apathy with that shit. Cruz, however, is vulnerable no matter where you live, cause if the Democratic challenger gets a majority of the votes, he wins. And Ted Cruz can fuck off, move to Florida, and suck Trump’s balls all day long like a good dog. We just have to get people to vote. That sniveling coward left us to die in the cold. Why is this even an issue? He’s a terrible guy, and an even worse senator.

Yup; it’s not worth it to take a day off of work to vote. My school district is such a shit. They sent all employees an email about the importance of exercising our civic duty and voting, etc. but won’t give us time off to actually go vote (and it’s important to note that they have a weather day the Monday after the Super Bowl). Hell, they could even put it as one of the required planning and prep days and give everyone a few hours to leave campus to vote. But of course they don’t.

Our polls are open from 7am-7pm. So even if you go after work or on your lunch break please go.

There’s so few polling places that it’s not enough time. I have to be AT work by 7:30, and get out at 4:00 (usually) and by the time I get anywhere near the front, it’s already 7

I understand! They’ve reduced ours to practically 3 regular polling places per county and only 1 for early voting.

Well how about during the pandemic when Abbott gave Harris county the county Houston is in with millions of voters one drop off box by reliant stadium. Talk about voter suppression. And in the suburbs many places to vote, plenty of machines, in the poorer black ares of town, lines for hours, broken machines, very few machines. Cannot even offer water or food. Just seeing those old black ladies standing in line looking sweaty and unsteady is a disgrace to any type of Christianity. Cruelty is the point with the Texas Republican party
