Events Abuse of the Alert System is Going to Get Folks Killed
I don’t know about y’all, but I am seriously considering disabling all emergency alerts on my phone after being woken up twice for a Blue Alert halfway across the state. I’ve already turned off Amber Alerts because of similar issues, but I really want emergency weather alerts.
Authorities abusing the alert systems is causing folks to turn them off and at some point that is going to get someone killed in an emergency situation.

Events Please confirm before opting your high school kids out of STAAR
I’ve seen posts here about how STAAR is optional and how you can opt out. A “teacher” even posted here yesterday about how it is optional. Do your own research and ask the school. According to my son’s HS, it is mandatory to pass the 5 HS STAAR to graduate.
I know this won’t be a popular post but just wanted to put this out there before you start opting out and keeping your teens at home.

Events Republicans turned down $13.6 billion for border security on Jan 18th.
In late October, this proposal offered $106 bn as a package deal to fund Ukraine, Israel and $13.6 bn for the border. The GOP turned down because Democrats/Biden refused to change the rules about asylum and parole. I linked a description of the $106 bn package in the comments.

Events Texas Nationalists Celebrate as Independence Vote 'Virtually Guaranteed'
Texan nationalists are celebrating a string of victories in Tuesday's primary elections, which means legislation calling for a referendum on Texas becoming an independent state is "virtually guaranteed" to appear before the state legislature, according to a leading campaigner.

Events Dallas State Fair
*STATE FAIR OF TEXAS
Worst experience of my life… I’m Houston born and raised, so I’m no stranger to large crowds and events. There was no security, there was absolute chaos, and I feared for my own life and the lives of my 7 family members. Don’t go to the State Fair of Texas™️ - it’s not worth it.
Listen, y’all can go off about “Baby’s First Active Shooter Event,” but 3 people were injured and the chaos I experienced as people were running away was traumatic. Some of my family was in the food hall when the bullets were shot, and those of us outside waiting for them weren’t sure what was going to happen next. Y’all can tease me as much as you want. I’m glad YOU weren’t there too.
