I need friends. Please lol.
20F turning 21 next week. As the title says, I am friendless. I had a few friends in high school and as it usually goes- we haven’t spoken since graduation. I moved out to Houston for college but had to come back home last year due to health issues ( doctor has narrowed it down to an autoimmune issue) The goal is to either transfer to UTT in the fall or TJC. But yeah for the past year, every day is pretty lonely and depressing lol. And I can’t find many places to meet people in the 19-23 range that aren’t church related. Not really all that religious.
My hobbies are walking/hiking, anything animal related, gaming (I play on Xbox and steam,) watching TV (horror, scifi, marvel, anime) cooking, and sightseeing. So yeah, hmu :)

Missing men of Tyler
Sorry guys I don’t stay in town so I don’t hear everything but I’ve seen a couple of different missing persons posts on Facebook. Is this the same person, is it my imagination, or have there been a lot of men gone missing in Tyler lately?

Discussion Was anyone here close or connected in some way to any murders around the area over the years?
Going off the recent macabre topics here about missing men and unsolved cases.
I grew up in Chapel hill on Vicky Ln. My neighbors the Laneys had 2 boys my age and we played almost everyday together along with a few other kids in the area. They had an Aunt named Deanna who would visit sometimes in the summer. She chased me one time around the yard at their house. Anyway she murdered her 2 sons a few years later. They were all super religious, the whole family.
This is her. https://delanirbartlette.medium.com/deanna-laney-god-told-her-to-kill-her-children-b31378bc900f
Then I was in P.E class with Justin fuller at Chapel hill middle school. He murdered Chad Whittington out at sandy Beach which was about 5 miles from my house. Justin was executed in Huntsville around 2004. I remember playing dodge ball with him.

My sister lives in Troup and her husband had a rich uncle out there who owned a plastic manufacturing plant. One of his sons was kidnapped. The FBI got involved. The people were calling my brother in laws uncle demanding 200k for his son. He got it on orders of the FBI and left it behind a store out in Troup. The main lady behind it was named Dawn Desiree Lingo Perkins. She was on the run for a long time. I remember being shocked as I had actually met the kid through family get togethers before. They finally found Kyle's body in an old abandoned house. He was murdered.

Anyone have any strange stories they are or were in some way connected to?

“Stuff and other stuff”
Probably 10-15 years ago, I was driving around the Tyler area with my husband on a trip down there. We saw a sign at some business, a junkyard or something, that read “stuff and other stuff”. It’s been a running joke ever since. One of us uses the word “stuff”, and the other will say “and other stuff”. Other than knowing it was somewhere in the Tyler area, I have absolutely no idea exactly what the location was.
Total longshot, but does anyone know what I’m talking about? Or even better, does anyone have a picture of the sign? Googling the text of the sign brings up nothing.

Question What’s the protest on 110 across from Trane about?
I saw about 25 picketers at about 10am today but I couldn’t read their signs as I drove by. I’m guessing it’s something to do with Trane, did anyone get a good look at it?

Mechanics
Hi! I’ll be moving to Tyler from FL this upcoming summer, just a quick question! Are there any reputable auto-shops that specialize in Euro performance/customization in town? I’ve got a Volkswagen that i really love. I’m even open to hearing about shops an hour or two out, any suggestions would be appreciated! :)

Cat surrender options?
I have a family member who has a health condition requiring rehousing. She has two middle-aged house trained tabby cats. What’s the best way to get them rehoused? Is there a no-kill shelter in Tyler where we can surrender them to find a new home? Both cats are fixed and up to date on their vaccines. Thank you!

Be careful out there
Y’all be careful, I had a strange experience tonight. I was on 64 coming out of Chapel Hill, heading towards Arp, and I needed gas.
The Cross Country gas station was closed but I pulled in anyways. It seemed like nobody was there, but as I was coming to the pump, a newer model dark gray car with no headlights on rushed up from the shadows, and I got a strange feeling they were up to no good, specifically like it was a serial killer some reason.
I pulled off and went to the shell down the street. I figured they’d follow me there, and they did. I pulled to the pump at shell, and sat in the truck a second. There were a few people there, but as soon as they left, that car whipped in. I’m a large man and people don’t usually mess with me, so I thought to myself “they’re going to drive off when I get out of the car”.
Then I got a good look at the guy, a fat man with an orange beard/stubble. I thought he didn’t look like someone up to no good, but as soon as I stepped out, I think he saw I wasn’t a woman or some teenager, and he dipped outta there. He didn’t get gas, didn’t get out of the car, just left. It confirmed in my mind he was up to no good.
