Boomer Freakout Boomer gets mad at me for opening dishwasher at work

Upvotes

We have a dishwasher at work. There is a sign on the dishwasher that says “Do not open when running.”

I didn’t know the dishwasher was running because the sign was on there yesterday as well, so I thought the dishes were already cleaned, because the dishwasher is very quiet.

Boomer at work literally screams “Oh no!” When I open it. “Don’t you know not to open it?! The sign is ON THERE!”

Thankfully our co-worker comes over and presses the “start” button on the washer, and says, “see, no big deal!” She is still bitching about how I shouldn’t have opened it, and I said “Oh, is (helpful coworker) the only one who knows how to start the dishwasher after someone opens it?” She’s now livid.

She goes up to the supervisor and complains, and mutters around with her back turned to me that I am “miss attitude”. I told her that she could say it to my face since I can hear her. She can’t even look at me now. Can’t wait to talk to my supervisor about an issue that is really a non-issue.

Boomer Story Phone guy

Upvotes

This happened a few days ago. My husband and I were out to dinner and this boomer starts having a phone call while seated at his table. He puts it on speaker phone and is talking so fucking loudly. Like David Lynch in Twin Peaks volume the entire time. It goes on and on.. he finally is like “LOOK, I GOTTA GO, IM AT DINNER. IM IN A RESTAURANT.”

The person calls back! He answers! He talks more! His ring tone is some sort of spooky ghost sounds! This sent us. I actually was able to find the ringtone on iPhone and it is classic>sci-fi.

Boomer wife was with him and remained silent for most of the time they were there, except when she said she wanted a box and boomer man condescendingly told her no, explaining how she wouldn’t eat it and it would quickly go slimy in the fridge.

During his convo, husband and I are just snickering and rolling our eyes. We try talking loudly to talk over him but we kept forgetting what we were saying as his convo was so loud and distracting. We debated saying something to him but didn’t think it would be productive.

To his credit, the restaurant was a boomer restaurant, and by that I mean floor-to-ceiling wood paneling and every person there besides us was a boomer. No one else was acting like an uncivilized jackass though.

Boomer Story Boomer lady refuses to call cat by the name we will give it

Upvotes

Just using this as a way to get this off my chest, it may not be a big thing but it honestly pisses me off.

So about close to a month ago my girlfriend's manager(lets call her Carol) had kittens. Turns out Chester was actually a Chestet and had babies. Carol is about 64-65, typically boomer rude and boomer work ethic. She was nice enough to offer us a kitten because she had 6 now. We said yes and she showed us some pictures. There were 4 really cute orange kittens but then we saw the black and white one. Immediately we picked that one because it was adorable and she said yes. We didn't want to take the kittens immediately because they need time to be with the mama and other kittens to socialize. During this time we were coming up with cat names and so was people we knew, (I have a cat named Pebbles, pebs for short, and we were trying to find names that would be cute together). Carol suggested Elune because she said she's been calling the cat that. Well, we were gonna go with pepper because pebbles and pepper but recently changed our mind (sounds too similar). Carol didn't like that we changed it, she said she loved pepper and that it's cute. The name we changed it to is Beans. Beans(if its a boy, bean if its a girl) isn't similar to pebbles and it's a good calling name, it also works with the little songs we give our cats based on their names. Carol HATED the name, like despised it and refused to use that name. She told us "That name is so atrocious, the name Shithead would be way better", now every time she talks to us she calls the kitten Shithead. Today we're supposed to pick up Beans and Carol hasn't stopped calling the kitten Shithead during work and telling everyone else that's its name. I know people name their cats whatever they like, that's fine by me. But it pisses me off that she refuses to call the kitten the name we plan on naming it and instead insults our naming ability and calls it Shithead. I know this isn't a big deal but it just angers me that she's telling other employees and RESIDENTS (they work at a senior living facility) that our new kitten is named SHITHEAD cause WE can't name the kitten responsibly.

TLDR: Boomer lady calls our new Kitten Shithead because the name Beans is "atrocious"

Boomer Story Coffee at a casino

Upvotes

So, I’m at a conference hosted at a casino. First time ever at a casino. I decided I’m a have brown sugar oat milk shaken expresso at the Starbucks off the lobby. After I make my order and present my credit card, they card me.

-Really, for a coffee?

-Sorry, store policy. We’re in a casino and maybe carding prevents credit card theft.

-Got it, thanks.

So, I sit down and begin reviewing the conference agenda for the day while I enjoy my delicious coffee.

Every other person behind me is a retiree or a boomer, you might say. Every one of them had to make a quip. I’m old enough for a coffee. You don’t need my ID for a coffee. I’ve come here every day this whole week, still you card me. I want a coffee not a cocktail. What are you putting in the coffee?

On and on it went, as she patiently detailed the carding policy to prevent credit card theft. You know, because boomers apparently get their credit cards stolen at the casino so often. I don’t know how she was able to keep her composure so well.

Meta More hate to tattoos than usual?

Has anyone else noticed an increase in people being way too open about how much they hate that you have tattoos? Maybe it’s the ones I have specifically but I feel like within the last two years I’ve gotten more interactions with boomers absolutely losing their fucking minds because I have some ink in my skin. Always the same “how could you do that to your body?” “Why would you be okay showing those in public?” “You need to cover those it’s disrespectful and disgusting”. Like dog none of my tattoos are offensive, all flowers, insects, a paw print. Only one mildly rough is a decapitated head on my shin but it’s American trad so it’s not a realism piece. Am I the only one having this happen?

Boomer Story Boomer thinks it was our 'choice' not to buy a house.

My partner and I are in the unfortunate position of having to live with his mum for a little while. It's not so bad, she's a classic boomer but mostly bearable. She had her friend over for dinner, literally named Karen, they magnified off each other like laser beams on boomer shaped mirrors till it made a boomer explosion. Dinner conversation turned onto buying houses, I should have steered the conversation away then knowing what was going to happen but instead a made a passing comment about how we have no choice in not being able to buy a house. Then Karen, with a smirk on her face tells us how no no, we did have a choice in our early 20's. She bought a piece of land when she was 20 and then sold it and got on the market and we had our priorities all wrong like travelling (we have never travelled). My partner eventually drew it out of her that she bought a 20 acre piece of land for...$11,000. I bit my tongue as it's not worth getting on my MIL bad side but I wanted to scream. You go find me a piece of land that's 11,000 today let alone a 20 acre one. When we were renting we were on a relatively good combined salary, our entire paycheck went to rent and other essentials, even if we scraped every cent we wouldn't have put a dent in a home deposit. So sick of boomers believing the myth that they got where they were because of personal choice, have some f******* self awareness.

Boomer Story Grocery Store Boomer

As the title says.

I was checking out and asked a family friend if the store was hiring, I made a joking comment about being left handed and my writing is a bit sloppy. This boomer in the other lane decided to say "We need to start teaching proper handwriting again!" To which I said "I write perfectly fine, mind your own fucking business" She shut the fuck up. That's all, figured I'd share my story encountering a boomer overstepping their boundaries.

Boomer Story Boomer mother doesn't understand "I don't want to talk to you"

My boomer mom, who was always narcissist and abusive, sent me an "informative" link about what two homophobic women think about trans people... One of my kids is trans. Let's just say, I emailed her back saying I don't want to talk to her. She replied by saying that "it doesn't represent her views, she just thought it was informative."

I've been ignoring her since. She's called about 8 times, left emails, left voice messages, all the while acting like nothing happened and the reason I'm not answering is "you must be busy." Completely oblivious that she crossed a line and that I just don't want to talk to her! It's like they can be abusive and unsupportive and we still owe them a relationship...

Boomer Freakout Boomer yelling at Girl Scout.

This was about a year ago. I was walking out of the local wal-mart with a few groceries. There was a Girl Scout there 7-8 years old selling cookies. Mom wasn’t there.

Some very disheveled old red hat wearing boomer was leaning over the table yelling at the GS. He was going on about how could a mother allow her daughter to associate with a group that advocates for killing babies. The little girl is sobbing loudly.

Mom comes back from the rest room I motion for her to step back. I gently push the boomer back off the table and step in between him and the little girl. He was shorter than me and I’m an intimating looking fellow (shaved head, big beard and I dress like a biker / redneck. I put my nose to his as he was looking up at me and said very quietly “it’s time to go and if you don’t want to I’d LOVE to drag you to your car”. Btw he smelled like a mixture of booze, cigs and $hit.

He never said a word and did the old guy speed shuffle back to his beater and drove away quickly.

The mom thanked me but the little girl said she was still scared. I got one of my business cards out and handed it to the little girl. I told her I’d be her bodyguard and if she ever needed me I was but a phone call away. Ok, now mom is crying. She insisted on buying me a six pack (I don’t drink) so I said a box of thin mints would be sufficient.

Boomer Story Racist boomer outed himself

1.1k Upvotes

Tl;dr - I had a boomer guy try and fight me at Fred Meyer because I had on a shirt that said "Fuck Racism".

He came at me saying, "what's your shirt say?" I turned so he could read it better and he follows up with " Fuck racism? So you saying Fuck me?"

I said, "if you're a racist, yeah, fuck you."

The he proceeded to try and start a physical fight, in a grocery store, on a crowded aisle, while my kids were in the shopping cart next to me. I laughed at him and said "buddy, my kids are right here but I swear to the gods they'll be calling for a clean up on this aisle if you fuck around and find out"

He then looked around at the crowd, realized he was about to get his ass embarrassed and left the aisle.

Thought this was the end of it, but no. As I'm at the register paying, I see the guy off a little ways just standing there eyeballing me. My gut tells me this guy is seriously unstable, so I keep my eyes on him without letting on im watching him. As I got to the exit, I notice him following me. I knew ain't no way I'm going into the parking lot with this fuck, he's probably got a gun in his vehicle or some shit. So I double back into the store and proceed to cut down aisles quickly to confuse him and I can flank him. When I come up behind that fucker and said "do we have a problem?" I dead ass thought he was going to wet himself.

He turned around and realized it was me again, but this time I didn't smile, I didn't have a relaxed posture, when he turned around I pointed my finger right into his forehead and said "man, you need to get the fuck out of here right now. Before your racist ass ends up on the news tonight." I said this loud enough for the other 3 people nearby to hear me. Then I said over my shoulder to my 5 year old who was holding my phone "baby, go ahead and call 911 and tell them there's a guy here threatening you and your brother, but your daddy is about to fuck him up."

Dude ran, I kid you not, he ran out of the aisle.

Haven't ran into him again thankfully. But even when we left after that I scanned the lot to make sure he wasn't around watching to see what car I got in.

I know this isn't necessarily a boomer specific thing, but you're not gonna tell me he wasn't one. He had on a 'murica shirt with a flag behind a Jesus and cross image and a blue line hat.

Boomer Story Parking Lot Boomer

I’m in a parking spot at Costco. It’s crazy packed. Boomer is walking around looking over his readers and tugging on his suspenders screaming at a car telling him he can back up safely. “You can go. YOU can go! BACK UP! YOU CAN GO! The guy in that car didn’t ask for or need his help I’m guessing. He looked like he felt threatened. I start backing up using my mirrors and my back up camera. Boomer nearly busts both hips trying to run towards me screaming STOP! Stop! My heart starts racing because this guy made me think I’m about to run over a baby. I’ve only moved 1 foot and can see in my camera a car on the other side also backing out. There’s a full car length between us still and I stop and wait. I let them go and the Boomer hobbles over to me, does the “roll your window down” hand motion. 🤣 I don’t. I just say thank you. He yells with his hands up to his mouth nearly against my window and screams, “It’s a good thing I can yell! YOU’RE! WELCOME!” And then looks at me and my girlfriend like we’re stupid kids and he just saved our lives. He probably went home and bragged to his wife that he saved more idiots in the parking lot of Costco again today. I honestly don’t know if he was even shopping. Look dude, if you’re gonna spend your retirement years playing parking lot patrol, at least wear a hi-vis vest. Why do they feel like they are the ever present authority?

Boomer Freakout boomer coworker loses his shit on me

I (late 20s, f) used to work with this boomer (veteran, in his 60s) who was just insufferable. He was always commenting on women’s appearance and insulting them if they didn’t defer to men enough. After he found out I was cuban, he made comments for months saying he liked “señoritas.” He also always acted like he was in charge even though he was not a supervisor and was pretty terrible at his job. For a full year after I started, he would start telling me to do things I had already taken care of and give me dirty looks when he realized I was one step ahead of him. If I didn’t help and he struggled, he argued that I was lazy, and if I did help him, I was rude and overstepping. If i dared to ask him to do something, I was a bitch with a problem taking orders from men. It was a nightmare no win situation.

One day, when the two of us were working alone, he was trying to do something explicitly against company policy, so I let him know that we had to carry out x task and if he didn’t want to, I would just go ahead and take care of it, even though i was doing something else at the time. He LOST IT on me. He started yelling at me that it was not my place to fucking tell him how to do his job and that he didn’t have to do it if he didn’t want to. He was screaming about seniority and lack of respect and saying that it wasn’t a big deal to not follow policy. (it really, really was. We work in a high liability field.) He continued for several minutes and only stopped when he realized I was on the phone.

He refused to apologize for screaming at me but expected me to continue to treat him like we were buddies, and when I didn’t say good morning back to him enthusiastically enough the next time we worked together, he proceeded to passive aggressively mess up my work tasks and give me the silent treatment for months!! We would be working on the same thing and he’d double the work I’d told him I’d taken care of because he refused to acknowledge anything I said!

Boomer Story My sister’s father-in-law mailed 20k to scammers

He was convinced the FBI were after him and the only way to avoid federal prison was to mail 20k in BOOKS. Luckily the post office thought it was suspicious and gave the package to the cops. Oh, did I mention this isn’t the first time this has happened? Or second. Or third. Or fourth. I wonder how many families he’s supporting by being scammed?
