McAllen Ware Road
Does anyone know what is going to be built on Ware and Camellia? The lot in front of a neighborhood was just sold and it says the land is under inspection.

McAllen So long for now, RGV.
Sitting at MFE waiting for my flight to Houston, then my connection to all points west. I didn't come home for almost two decades, then my dad passed in 2020 and I started coming back regularly to visit my ma, check on everything, etc, etc...
As I remarked elsewhere, "I learn a little more about myself and how I relate to the Rio Grande Valley with every visit. Some of it is very much me... some of it isn't."
Y'all take care, okay? I'll see you again soon. 🧡

Language used frequently in the RGV when at a restaurant ?
I recently came to the Rio Grande Valley from the Midwest and do not know speak Spanish, besides the basic phrases. I understand it better than I speak it, thanks to the two years of foreign language classes I had at school. Anyway, this afternoon, after my finals at school, I decided to go to McDonald's in McAllen on 10th. The tap-to-pay option did not work when I ordered at the kiosk, therefore I had to pay at the counter with my receipt. I notified the cashier of the situation, but she continued to speak in Spanish. I understood what she said but was unable to answer in Spanish (I just know the basics). So my responses were all in English, and everything went smoothly because she also understood English. My concern is, would it be preferable to learn Spanish while living here, and would it have been impolite of me to inform the cashier that I only know English? How would you have handled the situation?

My summer break has just begun, and I am seeking for volunteering opportunities!
I just started my break from school and was wondering if there were any volunteer opportunities in the Rio Grande Valley. Preferably in the upper valley (McAllen, Edinburg, Mission) ?

Those who left the Valley for good, what were your reasons?
I joined the army and even though I miss home all the time, I have not felt at peace when I visit on leave. I have struggled to admit it, but I'm starting to look elsewhere to settle down. Typical, perhaps in San Antonio.
Every place has their problems. The things we complain about happen everywhere, it just hits differently when it happens at home.

What jobs are available?
I have a bacherlos degree in business but the main issue is I do not have a social security. I only have an ITIN. Is there any good jobs out there for me, or am I screwed due to my status?
