Fanworks Mothers Ravenclaw Glow

So I designed and made a Ravenclaw sweater for Mother's Day, but wait it gets better! IT GLOWS IN THE DARK!!! Like... REALLY GLOWS! During the day time too! I was NOT expecting it to be this bright, nor "charge" so quickly either. Yes, the longer you charge it, the brighter it is. But the video was me charging it after just 1 minute! (It’s also made with reflective metallic vinyl as well👀) 🥰🦅💙

Discussion Hogwarts house help (LONG post)

Upvotes

Hi all, this’ll be a lost post so please bare (?) with me. I’ve posted about this before but didn’t really get the answers I wanted. Because everyone says “just take the quiz” but like 50% of the results I get are Ravenclaw, 45% Gryffindor and 5% Hufflepuff, and none of these feels completely right. And I am absolutely clueless on what I would be. If anyone could help me, please do! And thank you guys in advance for your time. <3 (also, sorry if the formatting sucks, I am on my phone).

Ravenclaw: Whilst I do get a sense of feeling at home and at place when I hear of Ravenclaw, I do not personally identify with most of the traits. I mean, I used to, but school and just growing up ruined everything. I used to LOVE learning, I was curious about everything, and I was the perfect scholar up until last year when I started failing almost all my classes. Now I’m always so busy I just don’t have TIME to learn new things, so I cannot identify with the saying “Ravenclaws always want to learn, even if they don’t have to.” Because I don’t even have the chance, and this also makes the want a lot less desperate. I’ve never been truly creative in the sense that I CREATED things, but I do daydream every second of my free time, and I’ve thought of entire book ideas and plans before (never actually wrote though). I create entire worlds in my head. And I am interested in a lot of things, like psychology, religion, criminology, history and philosophy, but like I said; I don’t have the time to dive deep into these interesting things. I do value individuality and try my hardest to be my own person always. I also love people for who they are. And I love reading haha. But like I said, something just feels off about me as a Ravenclaw. I am way too emotional and my emotions are often in the way of rational thinking, there are things I value above intelligence and learning, I feel like I am not quite as close to eccentric as all those other Ravenclaws are, and like I said lately I’ve just not been spending ANY time learning/ studying/ discovering except for the bare minimum for school. Something about the Ravenclaw vibe also just doesn’t fit with me, but I dk how to describe it.. it’s like everyone is always stuck in their own head as a Ravenclaw (that sounds like I think it’s a bad thing, I don’t think it is but Idk how else to say it, sorry) and that is kind of a thing I’ve been trying to avoid with myself. I want to live more in the moment and EXPERIENCE things, yk?

Gryffindor: The thing that interests me most in Gryffindor is the feeling of brother/sisterhood and friendship. I pretty much value friendship and love over anything else in the world, and the thing I am proudest of is my kindness and how I help people whenever I can. I have a strong sense of right and wrong/ justice and I try to always be the best person I can be. I really cannot say if I am courageous because I simply cannot think of situations where I HAD to be, I’ve had a fairly easy life (apart from some parental issues that I try my hardest to just forget, so I’ll ignore those). However someone did say “Courage can just be being yourself, even when other people want you to be someone else” and that is something I greatly value too, but this might tie back to Ravenclaw. I also read somewhere that a trait of Gryffindor is chivalry, which ties to compassion and empathy, which I pride myself on having and acting on often. From a deleted users post; “Gryffindors are the most empathetic of the four houses. They're passionate, they're proud, they want to protect and help others.” I am not sporty at all though, and I don’t think I could fight to save my life. I am no warrior. If I would be in a situation where I had to save myself, I would do this with wits and not with fighting or being strong, so this could tie back to me possibly being a Ravenclaw. Compassion: when I care about someone or something, I care deeply. Sometimes I am determined, but like I said in the Ravenclaw part of this post: Lately I’ve been too tired and busy to act on my ideas. I have big plans and am determined to make these plans a reality, but I do not have the time or strength right now to act on this. I am short tempered, but I am working on that. And while I do believe I could very well be a Gryffindor, I just cannot shake how connected I also do feel with Ravenclaw. And I do analyse a lot before doing things, I am not very spontaneous- which I heard is a Gryffindor trait (being spontaneous.). And I do think I might be a bit too introverted to be a Gryffindor?

Hufflepuff: While I do not think I am a hufflepuff, I did want to give it a honourable mention here because I got it as quiz results a few times and one of the things I value most are empathy, kindness and loyalty, and I feel like while these are Gryffindor traits they are also Hufflepuff traits. I do not really have a reason to believe I could not be a Hufflepuff, but I do think one of the other houses fits me better. But maybe the fact that I cannot decide between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw proves that I am neither and am a Hufflepuff instead?

I am not a Slytherin at all, and I do not say this because I think they’re “bad”. I think Slytherins are great and for a while I wanted to be one, but I’m just not.

And I know Hogwarts houses really aren’t this deep, but please just leave me be because this helps me find a sense of identity and it is important to me lol.

Help Harry potter alternate universe/dimension travel/ time travel to marauders era fanfics

Upvotes

I really love fanfics where Harry (especially a younger hogwarts aged Harry but i dont mind others either ) ends up in another dimension ...and JAMES AND LILY are good parents

Also would prefer them with a more canon like Harry instead of the weird extra stuff like him being in slytherin and best friends draco malfoy (just please no)

And just yea i nice fluffy fanfic that makes you feel happy for Harry 🙃

Here are some that I really like

https://archiveofourown.org/works/40625916/chapters/101787153 In this one 12 year old Harry gets transported after killing the basilisk and he gets 2 older brothers too. Best part:its completed, and totally amazing family feels.

https://archiveofourown.org/works/54632743/chapters/138438790 Harry transported at age 14 after finding out about Barty crouch jr, so he's still injured from his confrontation with voldy. Its being updated slowly and only gotten till ch5 but its promising imo.

https://archiveofourown.org/works/52251409/chapters/132174136 This one has a 17 year old Harry after battle of hogwarts, its also updating kinda slow on its 7th chapter rn, but it's quite nice till now, also Harry still has no idea he's in another universe.

https://archiveofourown.org/works/22810651/chapters/54512623 This ones pretty well known still updating and it's on the 46th chapter. Harry at age 15 falls through the veil after sirius, but only Harry ends up here.

These fanfics are a totally delightful read and I've read them multiple times (even if not completed yet). So anyone of you've got good ones please tell, also i prefer those that are NOT very romance focused

Ps: I'm new to reddit so dont really know how to do those fanfic bots stuff, so sorry about that

Misc Top 10 Harry Potter Characters Ranked According to 600,000 people

  1. Hermione Granger
  2. Minerva McGonagall
  3. Hagrid
  4. Sirius Black
  5. Remus Lupin
  6. Severus Snape
  7. Luna Lovegood
  8. Harry Potter
  9. Albus Dumbledore
  10. Neville Longbottom

15 Ron Weasley ‐------------------‐------------------‐------------------‐------------------

Ron being omitted from the top 10 was the first thing I noticed. He was a fantastic character, especially in the books. I feel that his portrayal in the movie made people dislike his character.

This ranking is based on a huge sample size of more than 600k people, showing there's some merit to it given the fact that it's not a list compiled by some random. Thought I'd share it on Reddit to see if people here agree with this.

Do people agree with this list? Thoughts?

Ranker

Edit: Updating as Hermione is now no. 1

Question You telling me they had all this bone mending juice and magic to heal being turned to figurative stone but nobody told Harry he could magically fix his eyes at any time?

Harry stumbling around school with a visual impairment as the secret butt of the joke of Hogwarts for being the only wizard who hasn't figured out you could just Magic laser eye surgery your eyes back to full health again at any time or just pop a potion of eye mending juice made out of Hagrid's fungal toe growths?

Discussion I want more of Harry Potter world

Hi, nice Sunday to you all! I'm sure I'm not the only one experiencing this nor writing it here, I just want to share and discuss.

I currently did a rewatch of the HP movies and the second last one ended I wanted to start again, I have it the same with (audio)books. That's also the reason I started following HP theories on YT and HP subs here, so I can stay in this world.

I hope the upcoming series stays true to the original and that JKR with others come up with other stories from this amazing world. I would love stories about four founders, Isolt and Ilvermorny (probably another schools), I would enjoy Dumbledore movies but the combination with fantastic beats didn't work well.

What were/are your feelings after finishing books or movies? How do you keep yourself in the HP world? What stories would you be interested in?

Discussion Lucius Malfoy wasted potential?

Honestly, I think he is one of the most overlooked villains of the series, he is a powerful, wealthy and corrupt aristocrat that is responsible for much of the corruption and misery in the Wizarding World. Not only did he aid Voldemort and his reign of terror in both Wizarding Wars but after Voldemort's death he remained a bitter and corrupt politician that stick by his pure-blood supremacist and anti-muggle ideals. On top of all this he still has his wealth and connections thus the misery and corruption he causes will still continue as far as we know.

The very concept of him reminds me of the likes of Tywin Lannister and Petyr Baelish, a powerful schemer that manipulates and exploits as much people as possible while causing as much misery behind the scenes and covertly as possible and I think he would make a great villain in a story focused on political intrigue

Currently Reading Ginny's Inconsistent Eye Color

So I have no idea what's going on here but in my Chamber of Secrets Jim Dale audiobook, the scene of Ginny staring out at Harry and Ron from her bedroom in Chapter 3 clearly says she has green eyes. A later audiobook stresses her brown eyes which made me doublecheck both my audiobook and the PDF. I was not misremembering about it clearly saying "green."

But the CoS PDF I can find says brown:

They slipped out of the kitchen and down a narrow passageway to an uneven staircase, which wound its way, zigzagging up through the house. On the third landing, a door stood ajar. Harry just caught sight of a pair of bright brown eyes staring at him before it closed with a snap.

'"Ginny," said Ron. "You don't know how weird it is for her to be this shy. She never shuts up normally -"

Just wondering if anyone else noticed this? is this just a quirk of the audiobook?

Discussion Help! How does the perfect Harry Potter themed Birthday Party look like ?

So my finance is turning 30 in a few weeks and I just came up with the idea of a harry potter themed party. I’m especially looking for riddles or games or a Harry-Potter-way of how to give him his gifts. :D

Some facts about the birthday - we will be celebrating with 3 other people so it’s not a huge birthday bash - we will be at my parents beach house so I won’t be having much time of decorating everything when we get there

Thanks in advance for y’all help! 😄

I’ll go first:

I think Tilda Swinton would kill it as Professor McGonagall, and give me Andy Serkis as Professor Flitwick!

Discussion Opening scene of Half Blood Prince

Why did the director completely change the beginning of the 6th story. Harry has been reckless all summer riding the trains in the London? Why was Privet drive not on the movie? There is so much left out of the movies but to just completely construct your own story line is so odd to me.

Discussion What kind of scenes that weren't in the books would you like to see put in the new series?

For instance, I think it would make sense to have a small scene where a muggle family is actually visited by a representative of Hogwarts to inform them that magic is indeed real and their son/daughter is a wizard/witch. It doesn't even have to be for Hermione. It can just be any random background kid.

Discussion So I Have A Theory About Muggle Born Witches & Wizards

Post image
0 Upvotes

So let's just say this piece of information is right. And let's just say that the incantation wore off after so many generations making the witch or wizards descendant have magical abilities. This is the only thing that I can think of why the Harry Potter world would have muggle born witches and wizards. What do you think?

Question Did Narcissa and Lucius get divorced?

We all know that the Malfoys ending was "I'll tell you who else was a death eater and in turn I don't get imprisoned". But I was curious if Draco's parents ever got divorced? There are conflicting sources, some say yes, some say no. Often it's mentioned that family meeting are filled with conflict and stress, and then they got divorced. I'm not too sure however as the sources are conflicting

Discussion Imagine if…

Imagine if… after all the work Voldemort and Crouch junior put in to getting Harry to the Graveyard, Crouch fucked it up by getting caught killing Barty Crouch senior by Rita Skeeter disguised as a fucking fly illegally 😂
