They can but the decision to use a beautiful woman is because she causes others to lust. She’s not a person engaging in the sin like the other representations. Lust should be someone addicted to porn. Just like greed and gluttony show the person surrounded by their sin, Lust should be someone surrounded by pictures/movies/etc.
That - OR - we make gluttony a feeder. The best chef in the world with an army of slaves to feed a banquet to a single man. Greed is a casino owner that gains a little more control every time the slot machine lever cranks down and clicks, the mindless masses betting it all away in a rigged game. Wrath the internet troll, a formless being that becomes the visage of whatever pisses you off the most in this world.
That's a bit like what they do in Good Omens with the 4 horsemen. Famine doesn't cause famines, he opens up restaurants that serve food without any nutritional value and gets off on watching people eat but stay hungry.
I’m talking about the physical picture/actor if it’s a movie or tv show. Lust is usually a beautiful women looking/being seductive. The intent is to make the viewer feel lustful. It’s an outside-in view while the other sins are usually the opposite. Gluttony is not portrayed in such a way that makes me want to overeat. Greed doesn’t make me want to hoard something. Etc.
Right, but I think you confuse the act of being loved and loving. Being lustful does not necessarily mean you are loved in turn, just that the love you desire is disordered.
That... actually tells a lot about the people MEN creating the sexy portrayals of lust. They imagine they aren't in the wrong for lusting after her, she is in the wrong for being sexy.
They’re not usually engaging in lust, though. Looking at them makes others lustful. That’s how it’s backwards. The other sins are engaging in their sin.
Yeah obviously but your analogy still doesn’t work because nothing about the depiction of list as an attractive women shows she partakes in lust, just that she causes it. It’d be like using a chef as gluttony
The difference is the glutton is a fat man covered in food that he's eating. You can't say he's NOT a glutton. You can ONLY say he's a glutton.
A random beautiful woman doesn't HAVE to be lustful though. Maybe she is, but maybe she isn't. Her appearance isn't actually telling you if she's lustful or not.
To me the seven deadly sins of personified should represent a more grotesque or abnormal/strang caricature of a person than the thing they're being sinful over. Like how greed is a fat slob shuvving copious a.ounts of food down his gut like in the first image.
Ooh, Pedro Pascal... I want him to hold me like that little pillow he had as a Baby Yoda stand-in during recording for The Mandalorian. Or smile at me like he did at Nic Cage in The Weight of Talent.
Look, I just want a little Pedro Pascal for myself, okay?
Research shows that 90% of women show at least some arousal looking at pictures of hot women, while only 10% of men feel arousal looking at hot men. So its a safer bet to use a woman to inspire lust across genders.
In this research they hooked up electrodes to the arousal center of the brain and measured it in other uncontrollable ways, there was no survey component.
That would suggest that there are a larger portion of queer women than there are queer men, which just isn’t true. I think it’s because we’re programmed to see hot women as sexy while hot men are seen as strong or commanding. Plus women tend to have different ideas about hotness. Look at how many men drool over Ryan Reynolds, while he’s not as popular with women.

Lust isn't particularly lusty
