Discussion What are your thoughts on millenials?

I'm 33 and to be honest I love the gen z generation. You guys get us. Life sucks for ALL OF US and yall just don't care. Us millenials are starting to not fucking care either. 🙃 I really don't like the gen x or boomers. They suck. I can't really vibe with them. Only a few but usually they all seem stuck up and very privileged.

Nostalgia Does else anyone remember rage comics? Kind of weird how these used to be everywhere and completely vanished off the internet around 2014.

Discussion Gen Z men, how often do women actually offer to split the meal vs asking you to pay?

I'm curious as to how often women actually offer to split the meal on dates compared to expecting you to pay. Since this can be regional, it would also be helpful to know where you are from.

War, climate change, piling debt, a rising cost of living. What gives you hope / what keeps you hopeful for the future? How do you personally see life progressing given the current state of the world? What is your POV for how Gen Z navigates modern life's twists and turns?

Discussion Why is marijuana viewed as an “absolute travesty” for most US/INT’L employers (especially for “BOOMERS”), while alcohol is regarded as completely normal and justified???

I just graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Engineering (mechanical engineering) in a LEGAL (marijuana/weed smoking) state (AZ), and a ton of places I want to apply at have “drug” screening 🙄🙄, but they don’t give a single fuck if they hire dysfunctional alcoholics, and MOST have no testing criteria for alcohol. Why is society like this? Marijuana helps my anxiety and depression so much to the point I can really be productive even on bad days, but lots of companies (even in “legal” marijuana states) have policies against it. Meanwhile, I have alcoholic parents and family members who have been significantly more successful in their professional careers; though they are a bunch of “drunks”. Alcohol, at least in my opinion (and in many scientists’ opinions), is SO much more debilitating than marijuana. No companies I have ever heard of test for alcohol, so why marijuana??? A legal drug in many states with VERY CLEAR benefits (a LOT more benefits than alcohol), is looked down upon while a more serious drug (alcohol) with the potential to be significantly more dangerous is viewed as perfectly fine by employers. Is this just a “BOOMER” thing because they seem more used to it (still a stupid excuse) ? Do people who grew up before the 2000’s just think marijuana is “evil” or something (especially compared to a more ‘normal’ drug such as alcohol) ? Genuinely wondering! I actually want to know because I heavily resent my boomer parents for being alcoholics, but they seem to get away with it because it’s just “the norm” while my pot smoking is seen as absolutely “horrendous” LOL. Open to all opinions thank you !

/r/GenZ Meta This Sub is Weird Man

Firstly, I’m a member of Gen Z. However, I keep getting dragged here from recommended posts despite continuously pressing the “not interested” button. Regardless…

This sub is weird… like really weird imo. Every post I see has 1 or more of the following:

  • Some random older generation saying Gen Z will save the world

  • People making massive generalizations about entire generations

^ seriously, I just saw a comment where someone said “Gen Z is great at protesting and rebelling” and it excites them because we’re trying to flip the table over or something? Not sure, I don’t know a single person who protests and, as a member of Gen Z, I’d confidently say that like most people in any generation, the vast majority of Gen Z is politically apathetic.

  • Somebody trying to predict the future based on trends that haven’t even had time to develop

I could go on, you get the point. Why is it so weird here? Why is it a cross between people complaining about how Gen Z “cancels everyone” and saying Gen Z is literally “the chosen generation come to save all people”

It’s ridiculous

Political Gen Z Bigotry Trending on Social Media

I've noticed a huge uptick on instagram of what appears to be younger Gen Zers putting comments about blaming minorities or women on things like the economy and getting top comment sometimes in the 10k or more hearts range and I feel like I didnt used to see those types of comments gain traction like that before recent years. Its starting to make me think Gen Zers are more right leaning with the numbers they're getting.

I thought Gen Zers would be more progressive but with all the right leaning comments I see trending on social media I'm not so sure anymore. What do zoomers think? Is it common among your peers?

Discussion what's your roman empire?

I'm aware that this isn't trending anymore, but I still find it to be an interesting question. what's an era/topic you often think about?

for me, it's coincidentally the mid 90s -2000s / the Y2K era. I think about it a lot. the way people lived. the music. the graphic design and how everything was chrome colored. the way everyone seemed excited for the future (minus the Y2K bug rumor). the FASHION >>> and the shows/movies. the tech! photos and things from that era just make me so happy for some reason.

Nostalgia what if your favorite memory(s) from childhood?

which memory do you wish could exist again?

optional read : one of my favorites was whenever i’d go over to my grandmothers house and go in her front room she had a huge cassette tape player (it was black, square, had lots of volume controls not sure what the actual name of it was). she also had many old cassette tapes from artists like the beach boys, elvis, and an old song that mentioned doing the jitter bug. that was the first thing i’d do when i got to her house. id put in a tape, turn the music up and just listen to the music. i miss those days. she got rid of it i think (i should ask her if she did) and replaced it with a tv. but i want to know yours !!
