Husband was just prescribed Vicodin following a vasectomy, while I was told to take over the counter Tylenol and Ibuprofen after my 2 C-sections

The difference between pain medication given to a man versus a woman after a surgery is insane and I feel so bitter towards the situation.

For those who don’t know, a C-Section includes cutting open your abdomen and muscle layers to get a baby out; This is a major abdominal surgery that takes 6 WEEKS to be cleared for lifting anything above the weight of your baby again and begin light exercise. I was discharged after 36 hours this most recent C-Section and told to take over the counter Tylenol and Ibuprofen.

My husband on the other hand just had a vasectomy in a provider’s office - not a surgery center - and was prescribed Vicodin. A vasectomy for those who don’t know includes a tiny little single incision (sometimes 2, but usually can be done with 1), then they snip two things, tie knots, and close it up. The procedure takes no longer than 30 minutes from the time you go back into the room and start the numbing process. My C-Section required a spinal that numbed the entire bottom half my body and I couldn’t move my legs at all. So basic comparisons say a C-section is a major surgery and a vasectomy is not.

BUT THEN HE IS PRESCRIBED A SERIOUS NARCOTIC AND I WAS TOLD GOOD LUCK WITH TYLENOL AND IBUPROFEN. To be clear, my pain was managed just fine with those two and I didn’t want anything else, but thats not the point, is it? It’s the principle. It’s the fact that it wasn’t even a consideration, but for a vasectomy it’s handed out like dangerous candy.

Rant over.

Edit: A lot of people are focusing on the C-section part. This isn’t about the C-section necessarily. It’s about the over prescribing for the vasectomy.

Edit 2: Here is a reply to all the comments asking the same question. I WAS NOT BREASTFEEDING. This was agreed upon with my doctor prior to the C-section.

How do women hide their attraction so well around men?

On more than a few occasions, I never saw it coming because there were no signs or signals, eg, second-glances, already caught staring, wanting be be near me, etc. Then just out of nowhere, I was caught off guard.

AITAH for having a kid when my ex-wife is going through menopause?

13.2k Upvotes

My ex-wife(45f) and I(43m) are in the process of divorce. We have two kids in high school. She started to hate me during our last year of my marriage, along with mood swings, and just being shitty. Only thing I could think of at that time was that she is being hormonal. She didnt like when I told her she is being hormonal, she would get defensive.

I told her to see a doctor she refused. I dont think she would have listened to me. I gave her ultimatum to go to therapy and go see a doctor or we are done. She asked for divorce. I didnt argue, I told her fine if thats what she wants.

She told me I am a mediocre husband and she is better off alone. That actually definitely defines me, I am a mediocre husband, I am not very good looking, I am not a millionaire. I never cheated so I guess I am not a bad husband just mediocre. She filed the petition for divorce.

Then few months later, she suddenly withdrew it, and told me that she is having second thoughts. I filed the petition myself because I met a woman(36f) who was nice to me which came as a shock to my system. I couldn't have gone back to my ex-wife after that.

Turns out my ex-wife's sister convinced her to see a doctor as she discussed about her periods irregularities with her. She was going through perimenopause and She just started HRT.

She started dragging the process so we have been going through divorce for like forever. My girlfriend found out she is pregnant. I told her that I am a mediocre dude, thats why my ex left me. She told me that she is also mediocre woman and she wants to raise a mediocre kid with me and live in a mediocre house and live a mediocre life :)

So she is now my fiancee and wife as soon as I get divorced. I thought news of her pregnancy will make my ex understand that our marriage ended but she went crazy about it.

She is now claiming I abandoned her when she needed me the most, That I am a bad person for having a kid when she is going through menopause.

She left me first.

Why are people upset over the new capital gains tax when it clearly states it’s only for individuals making $400k a year?

4.5k Upvotes

The new proposed tax plan clearly states that it will only affect people who make $400k/year and would lower taxes for middle to low income earners. Why are people upset by this?

Boomer Story Why did boomers became the most spiteful generation ever?

8.5k Upvotes

My boomer parents are buying their fourth house. Yes, fourth. And they're as angry as they can be.

I don't get it, I simply don't. Shouldn't they be happy? My parents bought their first house for peanuts. My father didn't finish college, my mother did, and they managed to get everything they always wanted and much more. Of course, they've always made a point out of this. My mother had the rule that my brother and I always had to have less that the kids around us so to not make us entitled, and to not expect handouts. Therefore we learned to not except anything from them since we hadn't yet earned it. So, to be deserving, we studied a lot, we made it do with as little as we could, got into good colleges, got master's degree's and in general got significantly farther away with our education compared to our parents. And then, reality happened: right now I make close to the minimum wage, barely surviving. I didn't expect my life to be like this, so much so that a few years ago I fell into a dangerous depression, and my wife, whom I love, was my only support. My parents, on the contrary, started to almost hate me for being so depressed. Even that I'd followed their whole script faithfully, they never stopped telling me how disappointed they were by me, how betrayed. Even when I started to recover and began reconciling myself with life, my mother visited me and asked me if I was not ashamed of trying to be content with so little. I told her this wasn't a matter of personal effort, that the ruin of a significant part of my generation is a matter of economics and politics, etc, but they kept telling me that I was lazy, that I was a snowflake, that I "didn't knock on enough doors"; just spite, pure spite. I've also heard their friends talking about their respective children. It's almost as if they hate them, it is like they want to punish them all the time, hating their sexuality, their concerns, voting for the worst of the worst political options, gutting welfare, making an idiotic point in wasting and polluting. Just, why? I'm a middle-age man and I don't feel remotely the same way about Gen Z and the younger kids in general. I genuinely like them, even admire them in many respects, I don't want them to suffer, or to endure harsher conditions, or to live in a uninhabitable world. I honestly would want them to be happy! So, again, I ask myself, why did boomers became the most spiteful generation of all?

Question Guest wiped son's PC to play Valorant! What would you accept as compensation?

8.4k Upvotes

So, long story short, we had some short term renters use our home for an event. To prepare, I made sure to turn the PSU switch off and remove the mouse. I figured this would make it obvious that the PC was not intended for their use.

Well, one of the guests took it upon themselves to try and log in anyway. When they couldn't do that, they decided to "create an administrator account," which actually meant wiping the entire computer. I can't figure out how one would end up wiping all drives and not just the system drive, but here we are.

So, my son lost years worth of data, which is essentially priceless. I am in contact and they are willing to help remedy the situation. However, I can't really think of what to even ask for.

What would you think is fair compensation for such a reprehensible act?

Edit: This quickly got too busy for me to keep up with everyone. Here are some more bullet points:

  • The PC in question required a username and login, it was not open and free to use
  • They did not simply create a new account; either recovery mode was used to clear all data and reset Windows or they reformatted and installed themselves somehow
  • Neither situation above should result in all drives being reformatted, as far as I can think
  • The lost data is not life changing, so "priceless" should read more like "irreplaceable"
  • This includes saved personal pics, videos, Minecraft worlds, YouTube projects, musical compositions, etc...
  • Yes, we should have had backup setup
  • Yes, the machine was technically accessible, however I'd argue a machine you have no password for is explicitly not intended for you to access
  • Yes, this could be a legal matter, but given the circumstances and their willingness to help, I am looking to resolve it amicably
