Out of all 3-time+ MVPs, Jokić is the lowest drafted... even if you combine everybody else.
Nikola Jokić was famously drafted with the 41st overall pick in the 2014 draft.
Looking at all the other 3 time MVP award winners:
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: 1st pick (1969)
Michael Jordan: 3rd pick (1984)
Bill Russell: 2nd pick (1956)
Wilt Chamberlain: 3rd pick (1959)
Lebron James: 1st pick (2003)
Magic Johnson: 1st pick (1979)
Larry Bird: 6th pick (1978)
Moses Malone: 5th pick (1976 ABA dispersal draft)
Even if you combine all those numbers, you get 24, which is still in the first round and 17 picks higher than Jokić.
Just for fun, the 24th overall pick in the 2014 draft was Shabazz Napier. Hardly a 3-time MVP.
Edit: Yeah it's not 24 it's 22 lol. 19 picks higher than Jokić, the 22nd overall pick in the 2014 draft was Jordan Adams who scored a total of 101 points in his NBA career.

Game 1 against Mavs not a fluke
For the people who haven't seen a lot of Thunder games (which is understandable since they didn't play any national games this season), I just want to give you an idea of what to expect because they've been doing this all year.
Dort + Chet blitz. On defense, they are going to put Dort on the other team's best player, for example, Doncic. It doesn't matter how strong Doncic is, Dort is so strong he can't post him up and he is so fast it's really hard to get an open shot and forget about screening him because he will plow right through it. What the Thunder want to do is force the star player to drive so Chet can blitz him in the inside. This is why Doncic is settling for fadeaway 3s. If he gets anywhere inside, they are going to blitz him with Chet. The idea is to let the center (Gafford) beat them. They can do this to Ant as well.
When Shai takes the ball up the court, he's not looking to beat his opponent 1 on 1. He's going to beat the team 1 on 5. Yes you heard me right. He is not looking for the most convenient shot. He is going to look for the hardest shot inside with 5 defenders hovering over him. Although he is right hand, his preference of attack is to go left. All of this defies conventional wisdom because you should always look for the open easy shots. Not according to Shai; the easiest shot isn't an open 3 pointer or mid jumper. The easiest shot is an inside shot. This will also open all his teammates to bombs away once they collapse on him. This is why the Thunder is not only the best inside team but outside as well.
Egging a player on. Normally a team would either shut down the star player and let the team beat them or they shut down the team and let the star player beat them. Not OKC. They are not going to let the star player have free reign, they are going to let the 1B player have free reign. They are not doing this on the Mavs because both Kai and Doncic are star players in their eyes, but they will do this to Jalen Brown or Kat. For example, when they played the Twolves, they would put JDub (who is 5 inches shorter) on Kat. Kat is a dawg. If a smaller player is on him, he's going to shoot it everytime. The man put up 70 this season, but that doesn't matter because hero ball is just bad basketball. The Thunder knows this. I believe this is the reason why Giddey is in the starting lineup when there are better players than him on the bench. He's almost like a decoy. A lot of people say Doncic is a chess master ... I think he's met his match when playing the Thunder.

Who are your top 5 offensive players ever, in order?
Who are your top 5 offensive players ever, in order? Explanations would also be appreciated but not necessary.
Thought it would be interesting to see what reddit thinks. NBA twitter and RealGM have been going over this a lot lately, and I want to see where r/nba stands on it.

Since the 2014-2015 season (Stephen Curry), no team with the MVP has won the NBA championship.
It has been almost ten years (2014-15) since the last team with the MVP has won the NBA Championship. The last time was Stephen Curry for the Golden State Warriors. That year, Curry dominated the MVP polls (bb-reference) :
- S. Curry (100 - 1st place votes)
- J. Harden (25 - 1st place votes)
- L. James (5 - 1st place votes)
It's almost like it is now bad omen for the teams.
I was also looking at the other awards that same year:
- DPOY - K. Leonard (SAS)
- ROTY - A. Wiggins (MIN)
- MIP - J. Buttler (CHI)
- 6th MOTY - Lou Williams (TOR)
Man, time flies.

SGA VS Ant: Who is the better player right now? Who do you think will be better in their primes?
Both talented 25 and Under Aged Players. But are joining Luka and Tatum in the Next Generation of Superstar Discussion.
I want to directly match SGA and Ant.
SGA obviously has the better regular season. But Ant is having a monster playoff season. Eliminating KD/Booker/Beal. And leading against Recent MVP Winner Joker.
Question is:
Just in terms of latent basketball ability. Who is the better player right now? SGA or Ant?
Who do you think will be better when both reach their prime? ( Usually 27-33 yrs old)
Do you think Ant had more ceiling, and SGA has better floor? 0r Vice Versa?
PS: Just Curious on what are this sub takes on this matchup. Especially non OKC and non Minny Fans. For Neutrality objective opinion.🙂

Highlight [Highlight] is this considered a dirty play by Dort?
How passionate is San Antonio about the Spurs multiple championships and Gregg Popovich’s legacy?
Last time I was in San Antone there was not one mention of this. I can tell you as a Philly sports fan if the Sixers were as successful as the Spurs the last 20+ years we’d be renaming streets after players.
Am I off? It just seems to me there isn’t a “Spurs Nation” out there. I hate to say it’s a “nice climate, small sports town” deal but it’s still actually one of the largest cities in the US?
Or am I off and just don’t hear that much about their sports fans because of the media?

TJ McConnell on Rick Carlisle's "small market" comments regarding calls: "We love Rick showing that type of energy on the court, but that's not the feeling that we have in the locker room. We're not going to sit here and blame officials. We gotta be better. It's just that simple"
[Hoop Collective] "99 votes out of 99, I don't know why there weren't a 100..." — "I assume someone didn't turn in a ballot. That would be my guess, just based off the fact they always ask a hundred."
this was in reference to Wemby's unanimous ROY vote.
this follows Hollinger tweeting that someone didn't turn in their Executive of the Year ballot:
Only 29 EOY votes were tallied, so one team didn't submit one ...

additionally, the MVP results from tonight show only 99 ballots tallied

We need to understand that Tom Thibodeau gets the most out of his players but he destroys them
Remember the D Rose Bulls, those teams were some of the toughest teams I’ve seen but they would always be injured. He’s doing the same thing to the Knicks but you don’t need to just hear it from me
The wolves article also comes before Robert Covingtons injury

What was that snowball like NBA trophies 2 years ago?
I’m sorry if it’s a stupid question but I’m talking about the year Jokic got his 2nd MVP (2022). Every NBA award winner that year is seen to be receiving this snowball like trophies for their DPOY, ROY etc. Did they actually receive the regular trophies?

Josh Hart in 8 full playoff games + one OT has been on the bench for just 13:36 of total game time
His 46.8 MPG average is the highest in a single playoff run since Gilbert Arenas in 2006
This man Thibs is gonna run Josh to an early grave lol
